We all need emergency water for OTHER household chores, right? If your water is off for say, 3 days because an underground pipe burst, it may take your city/county to fix that pipe that long! In the meantime you can't take a shower and if you flush your toilet...well, you know what happens when there isn't any water! Washing a few clothes, too - so having a 30 gallon bladder of water for use to take a sponge bath and feel clean, or be able to pour water into the toilet so you can flush it - this bladder is an excellent way to have water stored BEFORE that emergency possibility occurs. I do know RV'ers use these to go get water when they are out boondocking, but it can be used in a house situation. Also, I used "nonpotable" water when I lived on a houseboat by using a filtration system so even in a home situation this bladder MIGHT provide potable water if a filtration system is used. As far as this bladder is concerned for my use, it is strong and sturdy and even full, stores well in my washer/dryer area on a low wire rack shelf. BTW, I do have a pump that I can plug into an inverter (which draws power from an emergency battery source) to move the bladder water to a bucket when I need to tap into the bladder's water. To me, this part of being prepared for an emergency is a no-brainer - fill it, use the water from it, fill it again so you always have water "off grid" just in case! This is an excellent size, too - as you may be aware, 64 oz of water for consumption per person per day is recommended. That's one-half gallons of water a day! So if you have bottled water to drink, this bladder can serve your other needs for several days. If you have the ability to send this bladder's water through a filtration system, it could provide one person with 60 days of recommended water intake. Not bad! Again, I am aware this is not a potable water bladder, but I am simply expressing how I use it when I do pull water from it. I'm happy with it!

Several years ago, a cold snap swept through the state, freezing things. Something like 250 people died from the cold while one senator flew to Mexico and the governor shrugged and said, "Well, I'm warm." While my wife and I still had heat, we didn't have water for a week. We were not prepared. But we have a plan now, and this bladder is part of it. We had tried a cheap one before, but it didn't survive the first use. This one is thicker and more sturdy, and has a better valve. I like the opening on top to fill from (though you're going to need a hose to fill it, probably). Also, if you put it in a bathtub or something, make sure the spout can be reached before you fill it. Once it's full, it will weight about 250 lbs. Plan ahead.

I had picked up the water storage bladder for camping. I appreciate that it's black because I use it for showers and the black heats up nicely for a morning shower. With that said, it's not meant for drinking. You'll have to purify the water. The inside isn't protected. One thing I did notice is that it's not 30 gallons as stated. It's only 25 at max. I thought there was air possibly the first fill, but no. It's only holding 24 on average fill. I did get 25 twice. No more than that though. 30 would have been nicer, but does work and appreciate the color and heat retention.

When thinking about being prepared, water is the first resource I think about. Having this 30 g bag to fill and store water is a no brainer if you're creating a kit. This one in particular is heavy duty enough to handle the weight of 30gal, which is a decent amount of water. I know they claim to be strong enough to be stood on when full, but it's not worth the risk to test. Just know it's going to last. It comes with all sorts of spigots and attachments for filling and using. It has metal rings sewn in to lift the bag, but when full it'll be pushing 250lbs, so I'd have a hard time lifting or even wanting to risk it. It folds up fairly small for storage, ready to be used if ever needed. Glad to have it!

I boondock and like to make a run for more fresh water once I get set up. I have a couple of these bladders. I like this one the best. The different attachments really come in handy when transferring the water over to my camper. This really extends the time I can stay out off grid without having to head into town. It also gives me the ability to take some longer showers if I want. It is thick and rugged. I expect it to last many many years.
