  • Better than expected
I was skeptical of using a new product on this custom desk I built for my wife. I’ve used rubio in the past and I’m usually a creature of habit, but I’m glad I took a chance on this product. I’ve used walrus oil products before with my cutting boards, and this finish turned out better than I could’ve expected with less headache and buffing. I applied 2 coats 24hr a apart and buffed thoroughly, I’ll be using this product on more custom pieces in the future. ... show more

  • Quickly becoming my only finish
I have been making a move toward this group of finishes; polymerizing oils. I started down this path with thinned poly in the form of Danish Oil, which worked well enough but left me wanting a more natural look for all the effort. I have used 0smo and still use a one-coat two-part alternative for tabletops and items that will get heavier use (the one I use for this was developed for floors and is quite expensive. I recently found this alternative and have used it on a number of charcuterie boards with great affect. It has worked well on Walnut, Ash, Maple, and Purple Heart. It is so easy to get right and works well with my sporadic work flow and across a large range of temperature with little change in time to finish. I have been finishing with a beeswax and walnut oil polish that gives them a nice luster. Walrus makes their own which I am testing now and will update there when I have had a chance to see the results over time. This is a great finish in the hardening oil category and well worth the price. (Get the big one, once you use it you will want more.) ... show more

  • Love This Stuff, Almost odor free
I’m using this blend of polymerizing oil in place pure tung oil. I use it uncut it is easy to apply and absorbs quickly. One of my favorite characteristics is the lack of odors associated with other polymerizing oils like BLO or Tung oil. It does seem to take a bit longer to cure but once you’ve stop carving what’s the rush? ... show more

  • Good
Solid oil, not the greatest finish ever. But if you’re in a hurry and want a solid finish that is easy to apply then this is the oil to buy. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it. It’s very useful for frames and other small projects.

  • Smell will not go away
Easy to apply and gave the wood a nice color. Disappointed in how long the oil stays ‘wet’ and continues giving off a smell. 2 months after applying just one layer, it’s still smelling and I’m afraid to place anything porous on the treated wood for fear of ending up with oil stains.

  • Pleasant Surprise
What a beautiful finish it provided. Never used this product before. Took a chance and Wow!!! Turned out beautiful.

  • Excellent, already reordered a second.
Great product, gives a beautiful rich finish. On the bench, I diluted with regular Teak Oil to make it go a bit further and to thin a little to allow easier absorption.
