These walnut boards are overall really nice quality with a rich ashy color and feel great to work with. The lumber is S2S, so the sides are finished but the faces aren’t — you’ll definitely need to sand or plane the front smooth before using it. Once prepped, the wood planes and saws smoothly, and both pieces arrived straight with no knots, cracks, or weird blemishes to work around. They're the stated size with straight grain and the thickness is consistent throughout without any warping or twisting. My only real complaint is that I wish these were finished on all sides (S4S) instead of having rough saw marks on the ends. It’s not the worst thing, just a little more prep work than I was hoping for considering the otherwise premium feel. Overall, I’m happy with the quality and would absolutely use these for projects. If you don't mind a bit of finishing effort before they’re actually ready to go, these boards are worth the effort and recommended. ... show more

These walnut sheets arrived in reasonably good condition, but you should know what to expect. The two thinner sides come somewhat sanded, the broad faces are rough cut, and the end grain is very rough with no smoothing at all. They are not ready to glue up straight out of the box if that's your intent. When I put the boards together, I could still see slight daylight between them, which means anyone planning a glue-up will need to joint or plane the edges to get a clean, tight seam. My two pieces didn't mirror each other either. For what they are, the sheets are decent, but the price is going to feel high to anyone doing casual woodworking. Where they make sense is for people who need this exact size for a specific craft, model, or project and want to avoid buying tools or milling their own stock. They are convenient and workable, but not cost effective for experienced woodworkers who already have tools and access to rough lumber. ... show more
