Works as advertised and the nest fits perfectly. I do feel it looks a bit too big (especially wide) given the size of the nest so I wish they offered one a bit smaller, but it’s not currently available.

Great plate cover. Dummy builders made a huge hole for the previous thermostat and I couldn't cover it up with just the nest thermostat. So I got to use this. It's great. I painted it to match the walls and it's barely noticeable.

This is the second nest we have purchased! They are easy to install and operate! The design is so sleek that they look great on the wall!

    • NOT an "Easy install" but does do it's job covering damage from past thermostats
What the product description suggests is that basically that you unscrew a few screws and pop the head back on. NOPE! You take off the head, then unscrew the screws, but then you actually have to disconnect all of the wiring also in order to mount this backing plate and then reconnect all of the wires. So if you understand how the wires are set up, then it is do-able. If, like me, you hired a professional to do the original installation, then you have to decide if it's worth it. This would be very easy only if it's put on at the same time you install the Google/Nest Thermostat originally. That said, placing this up against the wall in the place where it would be attached, I found this plate is well made, looks nice, lines up perfectly with the screw holes on the wiring plate, and is plenty wide to cover previous holes or any faded paint areas from your prior thermostat. It also could be easily painted to match the color of your walls if needed. So the installation misdirection is only thing I can really complain about, but it is a bit of a road block if you don't feel confident about rewiring your thermostat or paying for a pro to come install it. ... show more
