When I removed my old thermostat I found that the wall had been painted around it. Instead of going through the hassle to match the paint color I got this cool trim piece. Used this for a Google Nest Learning Thermostat 2nd gen, the nest fit perfectly on the trim piece. It was super easy to install and it looks like it's meant to be there. Makes the Google Nest thermostat look seamless and built in. The plate that came with the thermostat was white and did not go well with the black thermostat. The plate has a soft, matte coating that has been easy to clean. I can not speak on installation because our HVAC guy installed it!
