FIY...When you receive you box. Let it lay flat (it is particle board After all) at room temperature for at least 12 hours prior to assembly!!! Do not prop or lean the box on something. The wood will warp...This T.V. stand/fireplace had taken 1-1.5 hours for my 15 year old son and I to assemble. I am pretty handy and he was a great help. The majority of the assembly is fairly easy (having your own bottle of elmers or similar wood glue will go a long way in building a solid piece that will last). As for others claims that it is nearly impossible to install the screws on the back of the fireplace...TRUE! After several trips to the garage to find a better screwdriver or a longer tool. I decided to place a strong magnet on the side of my screw driver to help keep the screw head on the end of the driver. This worked well but still gave me a struggle to apply enough pressure to get the screw started into the wood. I think that if you purchased an 8"-12" magnetic, Phillips head bit for your drill or nut driver, this project would not be as frustrating! After assembly we were happy with the results. The unit looks quite nice. The 1400 watt fireplace puts off ample heat if needed (very quiet, but the fan only has one LOW speed setting). The separately switched L.E.D. backlit flame, puts off an unromantic electric glow. But, for the cheap price that I paid. This T.V. stand will look very nice in my apartment (moving away from my home and family for work relocation). Things to consider...the overall height of this unit may be lower than expected compared to other units. Also, the color of this unit is different than most other Sauder type furniture and may be hard to match with other wood pieces. Overall, happy with our purchase. ... show more

    • Nice piece!
This is a really nice piece. It looks high quality. There’s an option for flame only or heat only (or you can turn both on), which I really like. The flames look pretty realistic for an electric fireplace. I have my 55” tv on it and it seems sturdy and is a good size for it. A few tips for assembly: It recommends 2 people to set it up but I was able to do it by myself; it took about 3 hours. The screws for the back of the fireplace (K) don’t have pre-drilled holes but it’s not too much of a problem to screw it in yourself. The screw/door handle combination on one of my doors did not work (seemed stripped) so I’ll need to request spare parts for that. The instructions are pretty clear and the diagrams are good, just make sure you pay attention to the orientation of each board. Overall, I think it’s definitely worth the money. I gave 4 stars because I love the finished product. It looks great and seems sturdy enough. I had a couple of issues building it. First the bottom of it was cracked. It wasn't all the way through (just on the top layer) and was on the side towards the floor so I just put some wood glue over it. 2nd there were no predrilled holes for the screws that screw the fireplace insert in. You need to use a tiny drill bit to predrill them and it's impossible to put them in with out a long magnetic screw driver in that small cramped area. A man could not fit their hand in there. Also, one of the hinge pieces had a little burr of metal barely sticking up inside it where the post part is attached to stick out the other side. This made it so the door could not slide into the hinge properly. I had to grind it down to be able to use it. Luckily I am pretty handy and have a lot of tools but a lot of people would not. It ended up looking great. I used some different knobs I had to match the rest of my furniture. Overall I am happy with it especially for the price point. It looks more expensive than it was but be prepared to take a few hours putting it together by yourself. ... show more

Very happy with this purchase. I went back and forth for a while before picking this one and I'm glad I did. The fireplace looks great and the heater is quiet and works quickly. The piece is sturdy and looks like real wood. It's an excellent value for the money and looks a lot more expensive than it was. It adds a cozy ambiance to my small living room. That's a 42" tv on top to give you a size reference. Assembly is not difficult, just lay out all of the pieces and keep everything organized. It's like building something from Ikea, but sturdier feeling. The only difficult part was trying to screw the back of the fireplace into the frame (which holds it in place) because there is a 2" wide and 5" deep gap on both sides of it that you have to try to wedge a screwdriver into while somehow keeping the screw standing upright, as there are no pre-drilled holes. This is step 26 of 29 and it took me quite a while to problem solve. It would have helped tremendously to have a magnetized screw driver tip. I ended up drilling small holes and then screwing it in. The first delivery was damaged in route and had to be reordered. Normally I wouldn't put that on the seller, except the when the second one showed up, there was still moderate damage. This tells me that they might need to refine their packaging. One of the corners which holds the back into place had almost completely snapped off. Fortunately I was able to use some of the glue that was included to put it back into place. The two long vertical boards were both bent and slightly cracked. Thankfully the damage was on the sides that aren't visible otherwise I would have returned it two. I gave a reduced rating for ease of assembly because they included a very small amount of glue to put the wooden dowels into place.. instead of just making the holes a tighter fit. Additionally when it was time for the fireplace installation, the first part said to screw these tiny screws to hold it in place. The problem with this is there is only about 1.5-2 inches of space between the wall and the fireplace. There was absolutely no way to fit my hand in there to hold the screw. Once assembled, it seems decently sturdy. It looks great too! ... show more
