  • Good loft option for older children, 9 and up…
Color: Black
So, we bought this before extensively reading reviews, then got super concerned about previous buyers’ problems with the construction and assembly. However, we followed instructions, used our own higher quality tools during assembly and had zero issues or concerns in the end. Our son loves this bed, hasn’t complained about the ladder beyond saying he needs to climb a certain way, and getting in and out is not really an issue for a 9-11 year old child (for littles, I can see it being a little difficult or intimidating and a bother for certain worrisome parents). Storage underneath is an awesome use of space, the height is not too tall for an average sized room height and not too short to make the space underneath useless. Overall, the stability and build quality is what you’d expect at this price point. Would buy again. ... show more

  • Happy It worked
Color: Black
I was a little scared getting this bed. It's designed for children but I'm an adult and on the heavy side (215lbs). I really needed the space and the place I chose wouldn't accommodate a full loft bed so I took a chance. I was very surprised. I assembled the bed myself in a few hours. There were a few mistakes because I wasn't paying attention. Lay out the parts and hardware of each section before you put it together and it will save a lot of time and grief. The bed is very sturdy even though it does wobble a bit. But I grew up on bunk beds. Unless they were made of thick wood or steel, they all wobled. If it's worrisome it does have a bracket to secure it to the wall. You'll have to provide the rest of the hardware to do that. Making the bed does take some ingenuity so I suggest keeping it simple. Rolling blankets and decorative pillows go a long way. The only thing I work with is the sheets and the bed spread. The closer they fit the mattress the better. I almost forgot about the ladder. If you're over 3ft tall it might be a bit much. The spacing is a bit small and bars can cause discomfort for those on the heavier end of the scale, but it is definitely doable. A few tweaks and there's no issue at all. But I'm lazy and decided to go the step ladder route. It makes it easier to make the bed and I can place the ladder anywhere I need it. I have ladder where the highest step measures three feet. It's ok for me at 5'8". It still takes a little acrobatics to get over the top railing so I'm going to find a ladder where the top step is four feet. ... show more

  • Very happy with this bed!
Color: Black
I bought this bed for my daughter who is a little over 6. She shares a room with her brother and the 2 twin beds made the already tiny room ridicules to navigate so being able to shove one bed under another seemed like the perfect solution. I wanted the loft bed so that when they no longer want to share a room(they are sharing because they want to) I can take out his bed and my daughter will have a place for a desk or whatever underneath. The bed came in the manufacturers box. The box came a little damaged but all the contents were fine. Beware if you don't have help to carry the box... it was a very long box and weighed 84 lbs according to the shipping label. It took both my husband and I to maneuver it upstairs mainly because it was so long. My daughter and I (30 year old woman) put the bed together by ourselves. It took an hour and a half or so. It was very easy and the directions made complete sense. I would recommend 2 people to put it together because of the really long pieces. My daughter was the pieces holder so I could screw things together. Most of it can be assembled flat on the floor. They provide 2 allen wrenches which are the only tools needed for assembly. The small parts were very well packaged and it came with enough pieces. The bed itself is very sturdy. It does wiggle a bit but not too much. I'm sure the wiggle is mostly because the bed is on "stilts". It in no way seems dangerous. It did come with 2 parts that were not explained but they seem to be pieces to bolt the bed to the wall. If I thought that was necessary I would have called the company to ask about them but it does not. The finish is excellent. Not too easy to scratch but I did manage to do some surface scratches while putting it together. The bed comes with 22 tubular metal slats for the mattress to sit on, very sturdy! Pay attention to the mattress thickness limit (I think it is 9"). Our mattress is 10". The thicker the mattress, the shorter the guardrail that keeps your child from falling out! That said, there is still 5" of rail above her mattress I feel comfortable with that. From the floor to the bottom of the mattress platform is 55.5" so add on the thickness of your mattress and that is about how high off the floor your child will be. In my opinion, it is almost too high but I'm getting used to it. The only bad thing I have to say about the bed is that the ladder is very tough on feet! The rungs are too narrow and they are round. In one of the reviews for the same bed with a different configuration someone suggested using water pipe insulation to pad the rung. They cut the insulation to fit and wrapped it with duct tape to hold it on. EXCELLENT idea. I put double stick tape on the rungs, covered the insulation with some hot pink pleather fabric (to make it cuter) then just slipped it over. Perfect. (if you want more advice check out other reviews for the same bed but a different configuration because mine is the first review for this loft bed) ... show more
