Got this for my two youngest, who share a room. I put it together with my 6 year old no problem. The instructions are are lacking written communication. If you can piece together directions based on imagery, then you will have no issues assembling. The quality is as expected for the price, but I expect it to hold up for a few years. I bought this bunk bed for my girls' small room. They are 5 and 2. I love the low profile of this bed. It is just right for the little one to safely sleep on the bottom and the oldest to not be afraid to sleep up top. I love the stair aspect as well. It makes it so easy for them to get up and down. The only thing I didnt like about this bed was how difficult it was to put together. Granted, I am a single mom and did it alone. You will need two people. Also, I found that the boards that support the mattresses were not all long enough. This was ok on the bottom bunk, but the top bunk was an issue. This is perfect for our twin boys room. They are 2 years old and out grew their mini cribs very quickly. We decided to give them the space they like, since they like to try to sleep in our bed. They sleep a lot better and can easily toss and turn without bumping. My boys love using the steps. Make sure to read the mattress requirement (6”); we ordered the ones that Amazon suggested and they are a little smaller (about 2”) but if you put a pool noodle in the space it’ll be fine. Definitely a 2 person job it took us 3 1/2 hours to get it all set up, make their beds & clean their room. ... show more

My husband and I were skeptical about the bed frame; we were desperate to find something quick as our boys former bunkbeds were breaking in. Now the build is easy if you’re good with visual builds. I had to write the letters and numbers on the pieces that were not labeled. No problem. I built this bed on my own while husband attended the kids.. this was part of moms peace and quiet project as what my kids called it . Okay so getting back to it, I was putting together the stair rails part and notice I’m missing two screws number 5, so I improvised and took two screws out of places where I felt was sturdy enough and put towards the stair rails. Now the last part was the slabs to hold up the beds. This part I needed my husband and we noticed that the slabs are not all even. Some nails didn’t align on both sides and we had to screw in some of the nails slanted to get the slabs to stay down. Two pieces of wood broke off from trying to nail the slabs in enough for the slabs to stay. We made it happen and overall it came out pretty good. This bed is good for our 8 and 7 year old, we just hope that it last a while. I hope this review helps. ... show more

Pretty simple to put together! Though the instructions say you don't need any power tools, there were some parts I'm not sure would have gone together without the drill. (Most of it is put together with an Allen wrench) Over all though it's a great looking set and very happy with the stairs!
