I purchased this shelf because of it’s low height and long length. Though most of the reviews were 5 stars, I must have received a defective shelf. This unit basically has 2 sides and 6 support bars that are held together by a bolt on each end. Then there are 3 press wood shelves that each have 6 screws in the bottom to receive a small bolt that fits thru a washer that is welded to each support bar. The problem is when you line up one side of one shelf for the bolts to secure the shelf to the support to keep it in place, the other three bolts on the other end of the shelf are no where close to lining up with the washer for the screws on that side. This means that you are only able to secure one side of each shelf to the support bar. I tried angling the bolt on the other side in an attempt to start the threads and pull the shelf closer but the screw only went in so far due to the angle and when I reversed the bolt the screw came out of the pressed wood. Luckily the press wood shelves are heavy and though there are six screws to hold each shelf in place, three screws plus gravity seem to be enough to keep the shelf from moving. For the price (more than $125.00) and All the positive reviews, I really expected much better quality than what the shelf I received actually is! ... show more

I got the 60” shelf in “driftwood”. It’s got a nice muted grey/brown color. I needed a TV stand for the end of the bed that was sturdy and had some room for storage. I chose this shelf unit because it’s finished all the way around, unlike most entertainment centers and it looked really sturdy unlike cube storage or thin console tables. My box had no holes in it and it seemed in decent condition and I was pretty pleased given the other reviews. Only problem I saw was that one of the side flaps was partially opened but I didn’t even think it was enough to cause any damage. I actually didn’t even notice the corner ding until the whole thing was assembled and setup. But I’m not too bothered by it, I’ll just turn it around so the ding is in the back! I’m very happy with the unit besides that tiny issue. I have it placed on carpet and it’s still super sturdy so no worries there if you’re doing the same. It’s holding a 55” TV without issue and I have no concerns at all about the stability. The shelf is 60” long, 25” high and 15.75” wide. The shelf measurements from the floor to the bottom shelf is 2”, less if you’re placing it on carpet. The space between each shelf is roughly 10.5” (maybe a couple of 8ths more). The thickness of the bars/wood is 0.75”. I used storage baskets and they fit perfect and look nice. Be aware that standard 11” cube storage will NOT fit. The baskets I bought are “Awekris Large Storage Basket” , you can use the measurements from that product to get an idea what size to use. It was pretty easy to assemble as far as furniture goes. I was able to do it alone, the shelf parts are a little heavy but not impossible to do by yourself if you assemble like the manual says (assemble on its side and then flip it when done). No tools needed, everything was included and they even give you a bag with extra screws. The only warning I would give is that you should tighten loosely to start and then make sure the long bars are all flush with the sides before tightening it all the way. This is a great little bookcase, very sturdy, a good quality product that will last for a good while. I purchased the black metal with slate grey shelves and it looks perfect in my living room. I bought it as a television stand for a 55" TV and it holds it easily with room to spare. I'm also using the bottom shelves for stereo gear that is fairly heavy and, again, no issues with the shelves sagging or otherwise not being able to handle the load. A breeze to put together, there was no damage to any of the materials when it arrived as some customers have noted. Would recommend it - no, in fact, I AM recommending it. I was looking for a low but deep enough to hold my stuff kind of bookcase that had metal sides and wood inserts, and this fits the bill perfect for my needs. Its heavy, and does the job! (yes the wood is laminate, but I don't have kids or anything so not worried about that!) I like the fact that the wood is inset amid the metal frame so it won't be easy to knick the edges. ... show more
