  • Wow -- Way Better Than I Expected!
First off, one of the reviews on here (won't mention the reviewer's name) is obviously a cut & paste from an actual Series X|S controller review. So please ignore that BS. I just received this today and was honestly blown away by its quality. I was expecting a cheap, third-rate knockoff; however this is anything but! The ergonomics of the entire controller are almost 1:1 with Microsoft's proprietary Series X|S controller. The average gamer would be hard pressed to tell the difference. But the additional accoutrements of this controller are what stand out to me. First off, even though it has an internal battery, it's significantly lighter than Microsoft's controller. Some will choose to see that as a negative example of lesser hardware -- and they'd be right, as the haptic feedbacks are comparably less powerful than Microsoft's -- but the silver lining is it's more comfortable over extremely long periods of gaming. There are numerous points of contact that have grip added onto the controller -- just like on the proprietary. You'll feel it in all the points that matter, where the sweat builds up and begins effecting grip. It's a great touch. It has two programmable paddle buttons. We'll -- they're not PADDLES per say like on the Elite controllers, but they are large buttons sitting along the back where the tip of your middle fingers normally rests. They can be programmed up to a sequence of 16 button presses AND -- I do believe, although I need to test it a little more -- you can even set time increments between those presses. For instance, I was playing Hi-Fi Rush which requires musically-timed button presses -- I managed to program 3 quarter beat presses of the X button (at 4/4 time signature and 120 tempo) followed by 3 half beat presses of the Y button. In layman's terms, I programmed the left paddle to execute 3 presses of the X button every half second followed by 3 presses of the Y button every second. I NEVER expected it to be able to do that! Now full disclosure, it didn't work 100% of the time; I'd say it worked around 80%. But that could be for any number of reasons other than failure on the controller's part. The button presses themselves all feel almost exactly like that of the proprietary controller's. There is a nice pull on the triggers along with fantastic fluidity from the thumbsticks. The cross pad is the only part that feels significantly different from the proprietary controller, but honestly, it just feels DIFFERENT -- not worse. You may even find you prefer it. The neon color is great and the matte paint of the plastic looks elegant -- not cheap at all. And it's accented by the customizable ring of light around the thumbsticks. You can keep that light off or have it on one of about a half dozen colors, each with different brightnesses. It is indeed wireless however that's attained by a Bluetooth transmitter that must be attached to an available USB port on your XBox. Actually, even if you want it hardwired, you're still going to need an available port on your XBox so make sure you have one open. I only played with it for about half an hour so I'm not at all sure what the battery life is on this. The tiny, 2 pages of directions certainly leave a great deal to be desired. They are printed VERY small and don't really cover everything. For instance, during the 30 minutes I played I couldn't get the haptic feedback to work. I know it isn't broken as I'd feel it rumble when I would make certain selections on the controller, but there must be a way to engage/disengage it. I couldn't find that in the directions. However, that's about my only gripe for now. I know this was a VERY long review for this random controller, but I feel it truly deserved all the praise I gave it. This thing comes in at a price significantly lower than Microsoft's even though it's on par with it in almost every respect (and more so in some cases). I'll try to remember to update this review when I test to see the battery life. But if you're looking for an XBox controller at a bargain price, this may just be that diamond in the rough. ... show more

  • feels nice in hand
this is a decent option as xbox seems to keep upping the price of their controllers.... overall feels great in the hand and the color is a nice option... nice and bright so it is easy to find.....the led rings around the thumb sticks are a nice touch..... i would honestly like to see something like that doe by xbox and playstation..... does it make the controller work better? no.... does it look nice ? YES!!!!.... i will say that some of the analog inputs feel slightly delayed in some of the games im playing versus a standard xbox contorller ( granted i am playing on pc via game pass cloud so it could very well just be network issues)..... overall it has done pretty good.... i will also add that i am playing with the controller wired as that is the way i play all my games on pc.... good price for the build quality..... i think the wireless dongle could be a little smaller as it is pretty long..... but that is just me nit picking the product.... overall it is solid ... show more

  • Great Price for a Great Controller
I just received the controller yesterday so I haven't used it a lot yet. However, what little time I have used it proved to be very comfortable, has more features than I will probably use. I love the two buttons on the back. I haven't ever used a controller with buttons like that but I quickly found a use for them and found them to be in a very intuitive location. The light rings around the joysticks are a nice touch and give the controller a more elegant look as opposed to some lights that can make things look like a toddler's toy. I am not a big gamer that spends my life playing and taking games way too seriously but I do own an Xbox One X and so I wanted a controller that felt like those in my hand and this fit the bill and has no learning curve. Obviously, it feels a little cheaper and lighter than my Xbox controllers but that is fine, especially considering the extremely low price compared to others. I honestly didn't expect it to be near the quality it actually is. I love the response from all of the controls, they are crisp and work well. No centering or drift on the joysticks as well. The plastic housing of the controller is smooth and relatively fingerprint resistant. They added a slightly textured grip on the back of the controller for this model but honestly you wont even notice it, but its not like it was going to fall out of your hand anyway. The power of the vibration, plus not having to replace the batteries is the icing on the cake. the photo snap button in the middle is also a nice touch. ... show more
