  • Neat Toy for younger kids
This is a fun and affordable item. It plays a variety of songs, lights up, and you can pretend to walk the dog. This is a nice option for a gift or for your home. For batteries - I always suggest buying a rechargeable unit and using Duracell recharge batteries. A lot of toys require batteries this is just a little tip for expenses. Nice product! ... show more

  • Perfect for toddlers and small kids
I got this for my 18-month-old niece and she loves it! It has fun lighting effects, multiple modes, and two volume levels that you can adjust. It has three play modes and a follow-along/teaching option that can be instructional and build motor skills. I wouldn't give this to kids over 3 years old as I think they would loose interest. Overall great V-TECH toy. ... show more

  • Fully electronic xylophone. If you're out of batteries, it wont do anything
VTECH has been a round a while and I have always known them for their electronic toys. I don't think they make any toys that aren't completely electronic. Anyways, like all their toys, it has lots of sounds and lights associated with it, but once the batteries are out, the toy is completely useless. I personally prefer a toy that can still have some replay value without the sound and lights on but I'm not a kid anymore and kids seem to love these toys. I really like that this one has a volume adjustment, I tested this toy at about one foot and it was registering about 70-85 dB at its preset setting. The 3 modes of play gives this toy some variation and for those that actually develop a sense of musical play, they have a follow along/teaching mode that could be very educational as well as promote motor skills. The biggest issue we have had with these types of toys is when the batteries are left inside the toy and they start to corrode. If that happens the toy is completely useless and has to be thrown away. While this says ages 1.5 to 4, I haven't seen many kids over 3 very interested in this type of toy with the exception of the occasional casual interaction. They younger kids that actually play with it for any period typically just bash at the keys. VTECH has come a long way and this toy includes lots of thoughtful designs and features but unless the kids can comprehend and utilize those features, it is pointless to have. For me this only gets 4 stars because of that. ... show more

  • Fun musical toy!
I got this for my nephews to use when they come over and they LOVE it. Yes it's a bit noisy but they love it and are very squirrel minded so they forget about it and come back to it enough where it's not overly annoying to hear lol. Grab it on sale and I think you've got yourself a good toy that will last a long while and definitely keep the kiddos busy. Win win! ... show more

  • Great learning toy for infants and toddlers
This xylophone is great light up and musical toy for infants and toddlers and was a giant hit with my nieces and nephews of various ages. There are 8 bars that either teach and play notes (eg do, re, mi) or numbers (1 through 8) and there are 4 different modes, including some pre recorded songs. I wouldn't recommend walking around with it as the pull string is fairly short but can definitely be used for a long time while a child is sitting ... show more

  • My 6-year-old loves it.
V-Tech's Doggy Xylophone came in easy to open packaging with a minimal amount of plastic. While the dog is made completely from plastic, the materials used are robust and it is well assembled. My son has dropped it multiple times and it has survived well. This Doggy Xylophone is advertised for ages up to 4, but my 6-year-old loves it. He has been learning about music and the different notes in his kindergarten music class and the light up keys on this xylophone are marked with the notes. This toy makes him excited to create his own melodies and play with music. There are a variety of modes to use, the lighting effects are fun, and the volume has two levels. All in all.. a fun toy. ... show more

  • Adorable, Woof!
This is a great size, not too big and not too small. I like that there's different features. I'm also happy that the stick is attached with string, we've lost so many drumsticks and the like because they aren't attached. The lights and sounds are fun and exciting. I can't wait for my son to open this on Christmas ... show more
