Vortex Optics.... A+! I own 5 other Vortex red dots and rifle scopes. I try to rate everything fairly and so far all my Vortex products have been quality stuff. Put this on a Savage Trophy Hunter 270 Win. Purchased some Warne Medium 1" Scope Rings to go along with this scope. I kept the 2 bases that came with the rifle. I always try to get the lowest scope mounts, and the medium clears the barrel and the bolt. Shot about 60 rounds at the range, and it's very clear and lets in a lot of light. I have not used the shade, but will likely carry it with me to block glare, or if it's raining. So far, it held zero after sighting in. I love the side AO. Turrets are audible 1/4 MOA clicks. Going from 4 to 16 zoom is very smooth. I'm sure there's other brands of scope out there that are comparable, but hard to put in the price range Vortex offers. I always feel confident in purchasing Vortex because they produce quality products for a great price and a lifetime warranty. Update 5/15/2016: I removed the scope from my Savage 270 Win and put on my Savage FV-SR 22LR with Boyd's Pro Varmint stock for bench rest shooting at paper targets. Same beautiful quality and getting 1/2"-3/4" groups with factory CCI ammo. Reason I replaced this on my 270 Win was that now I am using the rifle for spot-and-stalk, so I needed one that was lighter in weight for mobility and less magnification power as my shots are sometimes as close as 20 yards. ... show more
