  • E-Arc Soundbar Can Hear Nintendo Switch Menu Sounds
Style: Wireless Subwoofer Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 5.1
I've owned about 6 soundbars throughout the years and this is the best one. I watched Avatar: The Way of Water in my room, with my new VIZIO M-Series 5.1 Premium Sound Bar with Dolby Atmos, then I watched it again in my mom's room whom I gave my old Vizio 5.1 soundbar. The movie sounded better in my room. This soundbar talks a little, when adjusting sound settings, it says, "Movie, Music, Direct". When connecting bluetooth, it says, "pairing, connected". The controller is lit up, you can use in the nighttime. I don't think there's too much difference in this soundbar, compared to the Vizio 5.1.2 soundbar that has 2 speakers on top of the bar facing upwards that supposedly has a wider soundstage. I don't think there's any soundbar that can produce true Dolby Atmos sound, not unless you have a set of speakers on the ceiling (like a movie theatre) but, just having the Atmos codec makes this M-Series soundbar sound better. When playing from Atmos source, like a movie, the led lights up green (5 seconds) to let you know you're getting/using Dolby Atmos sound. Also, on top of soundbar it's smooth plastic, it's easier to dust off, easier to clean than my previous Vizio soundbar that had cloth, which I had to vacuum. Also, when I bought my new e-arc Samsung tv last year, it didn't work the best with my old Vizio soundbar that was just arc. I couldn't hear the menu sounds while using Nintendo Switch. That was a big reason I bought this new soundbar with e-arc. It does a better handshake between devices when both tv and soundbar are e-arc. I've had this soundbar for 3 months it works good, I consider it a great purchase. ... show more

  • Sound is great. Works with Roku, and can use just the Roku remote control - read for setup
Style: Built-in Subwoofers Pattern: Dolby Digital Size: 2.1
I used to have been in IT for about 30 years so I wanted to share with others on how I was able to get this Vizio sound bar to natively work with a Roku streaming box, now using just the Roku clicker. I was having issues with the ROKU Streaming Bar on my Vizio TVs due to locking up and had to return it. I wasn't sure if this Vizio sound bar would be adept enough to work seamlessly or if I'd have to use 2 remotes (which I was dreading). We needed some kind of sound bar or speakers because our Vizio TV speakers were rattling and couldn't handle the normal higher volumes. So, anyway, after installation and some settings changes, I was able to get it to work with using just the Roku remote control. Here's what I did. I mounted this Vizio sound bar on top of my Vizio TV, which is installed on an articular wall mounted arm. Then, I followed all the instructions for the sound bar to ensure it would work fine with the TV, which it did. On this note, however, I did initially ensure I didn't turn on anything special with the sound bar settings and kept it with mostly the defaults for Movies. I didn't want any features to conflict with anything, in case it wouldn't work with the Roku later. Also, some people were asking if it does come with its own sound bar emote and if it has an LCD panel on it. That answer is Yes to both questions; however, the LCD panel is just a one line small display so, don't think of it as a full screen thing like a digital smart remote, as it's not. Now, the TV I use is a 50-inch size, 4K, about 3 years old, and is a lower end model series but it does have CEC and ARC. Although I didn't need it at the time, I knew that those 2 functions were an upcoming thing that might be needed down the road for other connecting devices. As it turns out, they were both needed in this case. So, for TV settings, go ahead and enable CEC and, if you have as setting for it, ARC should be enabled. Then, ensure your Roku streaming box is fully setup for this TV, initially via HDMI #1 (or ARC). Also, ensure you configure the Roku remote to control the volume and on/off power to the TV. This step is very important. Once that's done, disconnect the Roku from the HDMI port of the TV. Then, follow the sound bar instructions using your TV remote and the sound bar remote. It will want you to connect into your TV's HDMI ARC port. After you've configured your sound bar (just start out with basic settings), continue with these next steps. The only other TV setting you might need to change is that I had disabled (selection: OFF) the TV speakers (the internal ones, not the sound bar). I did go ahead and change a setting on the TV audio section was to make the audio levels self-adjusting to avoid sudden loud volumes when it played commercials, etc. The next step is to plug in your (already configured) Roku streaming box into another HDMI port. I used HDMI #2 port. I only tried this with the current 2022 model ROKU Ultra. So, to confirm, your Vizio sound bar is plugged into the HDMI port identified as "ARC" and the Roku streaming box is plugged into another HDMI port. After the ROKU fully started up, I used the TV remote to switch over to the ROKU to ensure it would work and it was okay. I wasn't checking the sound bar yet. Yours might actually already be working for you. So, these next steps you might not have to go through; not sure but wanted to relay exactly what I did the very first time. I then powered down both the TV and the Roku. I then unplugged both and plugged them both back in but did just the TV first and booted it up fully before I plugged the Roku back in and started it back up. So, with both the TV on, sound bar on, and Roku on, I used the TV remote to switch over to the Roku and set that TV remote aside. I then was able to adjust the volume using just the Roku remote. However, I did notice that I had to get the volume to around numbers 50-80 for good measure. Before, when just on the TV (internal) speakers, I would have the volume numbered around 35. I then used the TV and the sound bar remotes to tweak some audio settings and everything seemed to still be okay later using just the Roku remote to adjust the sound bar's volume. So, I sincerely hope this helps others. ... show more

  • Good Sound Quality, But Google Assistant Features Fall Short
Style: Built-in Subwoofers Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 2.1
One of the main reasons I purchased this sound bar was because it advertised to "work seamlessly with voice assistant". So naturally, I was under the impression this sound bar could be an extension to a Google nest mini (which they advertise that exact product in their videos) and the voice assistant responses would come through the sound bar itself. Sounds perfect right!? Well after a bunch of fiddling around with the unit, it turns out this information is WRONG. While the unit does come with a built-in AUX dedicated to Voice Assistant devices, most Google Assistant products lack an AUX output, leaving them solely reliant on Bluetooth. Regrettably, the Voice Assistant responses fail to function over Bluetooth. It will carry out commands like playing music however the Bluetooth connection itself proves to be unstable and frequently drops out. Moreover, if you have multiple google nest speakers grouped together, there is a noticeable lag that arises between this soundbar and the surrounding speakers. In the end, this basically renders the feature practically useless if you are trying to integrate this soundbar into your Google Home. When it comes to sound quality, this soundbar delivers an impressively wide sound stage and robust bass, especially considering its compact size. It significantly enhances audio quality compared to standard TV speakers, making it a great option for apartment living where a separate subwoofer might disturb downstairs neighbors. Overall I do enjoy the unit for enhancing the audio experience on the TV. But I do feel a sense of being mislead with the "Seamless Voice Assistant Integration" feature and wish they would have stated that more clearly. In the end this is a decent quality soundbar however unless you have a smart speaker that has an AUX output, I wouldn't count on the "Seamless Voice Assistant Integration" feature working for you. ... show more

  • Also had HDMI input start-up problem...SOLVED in my case. (Comcast box HDMI input with Samsung tv)
Style: Built-in Subwoofers Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 2.1
I also had the HDMI startup problem with the sound bar not remembering to start up in HDMI input mode, requiring the use of the Visio remote to cycle through all the input selections. That was a real pain that others described here. Amazon tech help offered an immediate return and refund, so I tried Visio support since the reviews of the product were so good. The Visio tech had me reset the bar and none of her suggestions helped. She suggested several times that the problem might be with my Samsung tv settings, even though my previous bar was a Visio and just recently quit working. However, her suggestions made me return to the tv and the Comcast cable box settings. I made sure the receiver was set to "Anynet +/HDMI CEC" and set to stereo. She also suggested that I use PCM for the audio format rather than Dolby. I then returned to the Comcast remote and settings to make sure that the new sound bar was registered in the "remote pairing" section for the Comcast box, and that the external receiver (Visio sound bar) would turn on/off with any remote. Even though the last Visio sound bar was registered, I reregistered the new one and reregistered the pairing of the remotes. Instant SUCCESS. It worked immediately and the sound bar now starts up with the HDMI input selected each time after restarting. Hope this helps somebody with the same startup problem. ... show more

  • Sounds great for what it is; remote has issues
Style: Built-in Subwoofers Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 2.1
The soundbar itself sounds fantastic for what it is. If you live in a smaller space where you can't really make the space for a subwoofer, or just don't want a separate subwoofer. the bass on this is more than enough. It advertises Dolby Atmos, but I didn't find it to be that impressive on this soundbar, which makes sense. The remote was finnicky with my unit; I had to reset the unit a few times to get it to function for more than a few hours at a time. But it's been going for a couple of weeks now without issue. Overall, I would recommend this soundbar for the price. The sound will be hard to beat in this price range for a standalone soundbar. ... show more

  • Minimalist desk setup = perfect
Style: Built-in Subwoofers Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 2.1
Size is a little big, but if you want minimal cord, minimal design = this is it. I had the Klipsch 2.1 and Kanto Yu2. I returned the Kanto YU2 because the sound sucks without the subs. Klipsch 2.1 I am using it on my TV, but didn't like the cords. If the size works for you, this is the perfect balance of sound, bass, minimal, comfort, budget friendly sound bar ever. You'll be surprised! Amazing sound compared to it's price. The Klipsch 2.1 is better in terms of sound quality, but I'd say this soundbar is well good enough. For just the SOUND itself, If I rate Klipsch 2.1 as 10 star out of 10, I'd rate the soundbar as 8.5~9 star out of 10. It is an all-rounder in my opinion. Happy with the purchase! ... show more

  • Big Sound For Sure
Style: Wireless Subwoofer Pattern: Virtual Atmos Size: 5.1
Had my doubts going into this purchase, but his sound bar answered all my objections and then some. The subwoofer is thunderous. The bar and the other two speakers have a clear and well-defined sound that really fills my living room. If there is anything you don’t like about the sound, you can change it using the remote. This is pretty easy to do considering the versatility offered, so the buyer should definitely learn how to change settings using the remote. For example, I have placed the subwoofer and rear speakers in front of me, and turning off surround sound really helped. Believe it or not, I could not make the HDMI ARC feature work with my TV. The fact that there are two HDMI ports (one for eARC, and one for not) has me confused to this day. BUT, the Vizio not only turns back on when powered up, but it remembers the last input used, so I was able to just output to the sound bar through the 3.5mm headphone port and it all set up ready for use when I powered up. Now I can control the volume with the TV remote, so I actually have two remote volume controls (nice) This purchase was definitely to my satisfaction. ... show more
