  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great Mid-Range LCD For a Great Price...
The TV came within the week I ordered it and luckily there was no damage. Getting it out of the box and setting it up was extremely simple. They put handles on the inside of the padding for you to pull the TV out with ease...that’s a great idea from Vizio. Comes with 4 HDMI ports, an optical port, Ethernet port, only 1 USB port (would have liked 2) and video in and out ports. One of the HDMI ports supports eARC which is very nice. Once your set up and turn the tv on you’ll have to go through a small setup process that connects your WiFi or Ethernet connection and then download any software/firmware updates available which will take roughy 10 minutes. Once your up and running I would suggest you go into your picture settings and calibrate the tv...I used the “Calibrated Dark” setting and then tweaked all of the settings to my personal taste (I attached two photographs to show my settings). Immediately I noticed how much deeper the colors were on this TV versus my older television, which is an older Vizio system from a couple years back. Color and clarity are very impressive for a midrange system. I did notice there is a little bit of lag in live sports (not too much) but considering this is only a 60 hertz refresh rate and not an OLED system that’s $1000 more, I expected a little bit. The UI for their smart tv service is not the best. Its serviceable, but there are many other products out there that are much better...I would recommend an Amazon fire stick or Roku stick instead but if you don’t wish to purchase extra product you’ll be OK with the Internal system. Overall this TV is great for the price…There are several other mid range TVs that are $200 to $300 more than this system and aren’t as good in most aspects overall. One thing to make sure of: check the model numbers...there are three different M-Series models to choose from and they differ in price. Make sure the model number is M55Q8-H1...it is the most recent and has the best technical aspects available of the differing models. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars A nice step up from entry-level TVs
I bought this TV to replace my 11-yearold Panasonic plasma, which finally gave up the ghost. The TV arrived in perfect condition and I have to compliment Vizio on its packaging - everything was well-packed in its own little section and the TV itself came in a plastic bag with handles on the top to all it out of the box and with a foam-backed piece of cardboard protecting the screen. Setup was easy and I was up and running quickly. The picture quality is great out of the box but changing some of the default settings made it even better. There are plenty of input and output options to accommodate up to four sources. Resolution and color are terrific though the viewing angle is a little narrow in my setup (this may not affect everyone) and the sound from the TV's speakers could be better. Also, the Smart TV platform could be better though I'm using a 4K Apple TV so it's not an issue for me. Were it not for the speakers and the software this would be a 5 star TV (please add back a star if these aren't important issues for you) and I am extremely please with my purchase. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Very good TV at a reasonable price
I had a Hisense H8F 55-inch tv that was driving me crazy after just under a year’s usage. Very slow Android interface. There was a lot of artifacting in the background of the UHD display (yes, we were watching 4K content that should have looked brilliant). Using the same source signal, the picture is quite a bit nicer on this VIZIO and the operating system is lightning fast and responsive compared to the H8F. Connection the VIZIO was very easy and so was mounting the TV to a dedicated TV stand. We’ve been enjoying this TV thoroughly without any issues to detract from our experience and that is worth its weight in gold. I gained a lot and gave up nothing switching from Hisense to VIZIO. Also, I did not go with TCL due to the lag between the optical audio output to a sound bar or stereo system. No way I’m going to just use the built in speakers and no way I can live with lag between the sound output through the optical cable to the stereo, surround sound, or sound bar. The VIZIO has no issues there and also has a (gasp) RCA audio output for use with your stereo! A rare feature these days. The black levels are not inky black but they aren’t horrible by any means. You have to have realistic expectations. This is not a top-of-the-line tv so you’re not going to get a flawless picture. Very happy with this TV and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a very good 4K tv at a reasonable price. ... show more

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Digital Audio Output Does Not Work
In general this is a pretty decent TV with a solid picture. The viewing angles are somewhat limited. A pretty good TV for the price. But, at least on the one I got, the digital audio output is dead. No light being emitted by the TV through the cable, a cable that works between my computer and the AVR (which doesn't do eARC so that path won't work for 5.1). Thinking maybe I missed a setting somewhere, I tried an online chat with an agent. Waste of time, they wanted me to connect the TV to another sound system to prove it's not the sound system. How many of you have a second AVR laying around to try? It is pretty clear to me that if the TV is not emitting light through the optical cable, it's not the AVR that is at fault. And that same AVR has no problem with 5.1 sound from my computer. Buy at your own risk if you want to use a TOSLink cable for 5.1. Otherwise, it's a decent TV. ... show more
