As a grandmother, it's hard to afford something like this for your grandkids. But I bit the bullet and bought it for him for his birthday and December. But the new year it was a piece of junk

  • Nice car that needs some improvement to be great!
My older son used to have one of these electric cars from a few years ago but over time, the charging portal stopped working & I had to manually charge its new replacement battery which was a chore (taking the seat out and disconnecting the battery cable, etc.). Furthermore its speed was a paltry 2 mph which my younger son who inherit it from his older brother didn’t much care for and so when I got him this car for his birthday, he absolutely loved it. In fact he loved it so much that he wants to get on it as soon as he gets back from school Even my older son likes to drive it as well when of course his little brother lets him. So with that said, here’s my thoughts on this EC car. Setting Up – was fairly straight forward. It took about 90 minutes to unbox and set it up. I could've done it sooner if the manual wasn't so useless. The video (assembly) from Amazon site was much more helpful. That said, all parts & screws are included here & in fact there were more screws than was necessary which was abit confusing. Be advised that some parts are hidden inside the car's shell so to be sure to take them out before starting to put it together. The Ride – was typical of small children electric car. The car rides on 4 wear-resistant wheels are kind of rough when driving on sidewalks and or bumpy roads but my kids didn’t care. So in other word, there is no suspension and or shock absorption which would have been nice but its not included here. Performance – The two 45W electric motor were good enough to allow my 8 year’s old son (55 lb.) to drive this at full 3 mph speed which is ok but not great. I would’ve preferred if it was 4 or 5 mph so he can keep up with his older brother bicycle but then that’s probably only possible on 24V electric cars which have a bigger 75W motor. But then again I’ve seen other 12V cars that can go as fast as 3.7mph. Also it should be said that the car can’t really handle two small children because of weight limitation (66 lb. max) and the car’s narrower width aside from the obviously weaker motor. Usage Time & charging – I did get about an hour of usage after charging the battery for about 6 hours. That said, you should not charge this beyond the stated 10 hours since its sealed lead-acid battery can degrade in capacity if continuously overcharged and unfortunately this lost capacity is not reversable and that 60 minute usage time can go to as little as 20 min which necessitates buying a new replacement battery. Features – one of the best thing about this EC car is its ability to be controlled by a remote control. Whether this is to allow younger kids to also enjoy riding or as a safety feature, I found it to be very helpful. It’s reassuring that I can stop the car if I feel my little one is venturing too far and or if he’s stuck and I can turn him around. Its other features are pretty standard for most EC cars but I do have a gripe that its music player lacks Bluetooth connectivity which is so prevalent in many EC cars at its price-point. The other issue with the car is its doors. They’re just too difficult to be opened up & especially so by kids. Even my 8 year’s old couldn’t open the door and so they just hop in over the doors to get in or out. Given all that, if this car could’ve been 1) three inch wider, 2) used Li-ion battery (instead of sealed lead-acid), 3) was a little faster (3.7”mph would’ve been a plus), 4) had some suspension, 5) had Bluetooth connectivity and most importantly 6) fixed the door issue, this would’ve been a much better and nicer car especially for its price. As it stands, it’s still a good, fun car but not per say a good value. ... show more
