My main priorities when selecting a desk were: Quality: did not want it to fall apart on me, and I did not trust the motors on the cheaper desks. Cost: did not want to regret it if I did not use it as much as I thought I would Space: did not want yet another huge piece of furniture that I wouldn't use post-Covid (I'm an optimist). This desk met my criteria. Quality: the parts are all solid, and arrived without a single blemish on them. I was particularly impressed by the laminated particle board top, which was heavier and more attractive than I had expected. The hand crank also meant that I do not have to worry about a burned out motor when I'm out of warranty. Cost: while not exactly cheap at $229, there will be much less regret if I stop using it after a year, than if I'd spent $500 or more. Space: this is probably one of the smallest sizes that will still work as an office desk. Again, I can see it finding a second life as a utility desk, even if I no longer need it for office work. I also figured that (if needed) the Vivo monitor desk mount stand would give me extra desk space for a very modest $25 extra. Installation was fairly straightforward. The Vivo web site has videos that supplement the excellently written instruction manual. The hardest part was screwing in the top board, where the pre-drilled holes simply did not want to align. This desk did need 2 people to stand it upright after completion. I chose not to mount the hand crank, as I expect to mostly just leave it in a standing position, and will reach for the crank only as needed. If I change my mind, it's just 4 wood screws, so not a big deal. The table is fairly stable even when mostly extended. I haven't been bothered by any excessive shaking yet - but I'll check back in here, if that gets to be a problem as I begin to use it more. Overall, for the price, I am cautiously optimistic that I won't regret my purchase. ... show more

    • Looks Great, but I regret not getting the electric version!

This desk is ok ... but I wish I had paid the extra $60 or so for the electric lift version. I have actually contacted customer service to return this one, and purchase that version. The desk looks beautiful, I got the light wood and white legs. Nice color, durable top. I really liked the size of this also. It's smaller than many of the standing desks, so it's great for a home office, but it's enough space to work with a good size monitor. But now for the drawbacks... the cranking handle and mechanism on this are not great. They do what they are supposed to do, but the crank is LOUD and squeaky. There is no way you are adjusting your desk while on a call, for example. I move my desk from sitting to standing a few times a day, which in my mind is the benefit of a standing desk, and it's pretty annoying to do. It definitely takes some effort to crank. But the biggest issue is that after a few months of cranking the desk is wobbling around like crazy. It shakes left to right as it cranks, which must be loosening the mechanics. This desk is heavy, it's not realistic or optimal to have to take down your whole computer set-up flip the thing over, and start trouble shooting what you can tighten. Because it's loosened up, it shakes while I am working - not just while it's cranking. It is wobbling significantly left to right as I am typing now, which wobbles my monitor ... not great. For this reason, I am sending this one back and getting the electrical version. My husband is not going to be happy when I ask him to disassemble this one and build another one, because it's definitely not a breeze to put together! Wish I had just gone for the other version off the bat. Customer service is accepting this one back for a refund vs. an exchange though (but of course that's what they should do - I sent them a video of the wobbling situation and they told me, that's just "how it is"). ... show more

April 5, 2020: Another reviewer recently said they only received the base with no top. I received the top with no base. The top was definitely packaged to be shipped separately from the base and i prefer they ship separately. However, the order does not say anything about the parts shipping separately and my order status is delivered, but really it is only partially delivered. I will say that the look and quality of the top is very nice. I have also purchased monitor mounts and desk risers from VIVO before. Their product quality is great and this is the first time I have had an issue with an order. I am hoping VIVO will respond quickly and get the base shipped to me soon. April 10, 2020: VIVO support replied to my email within 24 hours and immediately shipped out the missing base/legs. I received it just 4 days after the original delivery it was missing from. Now that I have the desk put together I love it. If I am being picky i wish the handle was made of a stronger material and it would be nice if it could recess fully under the desktop when not using it. General advice: You will likely want to get a monitor mount for these desks. And one that can can easily adjust the height of the monitor not just the tilt and angle. The proper height for monitors when you are sitting will be much different from when you are standing. If you raise the desk so the monitors are a proper eye line if your keyboard is also on the desktop then it will be too high. So raise the desk to your standing position so the keyboard is at the proper height and then raise the height of the monitors the rest of the way using a monitor arm mount. Search online for images that show proper ergonomic setup for both sitting and standing and you will understand what i mean. Depending on your height you may want a keyboard stray that mounts under the desk as well. Just be careful when mounting keyboard trays that the screws are shorter than the thickness of your desktop. ... show more
