  • It was worth the risk to be the first reviewer.
The media could not be loaded. I'm as software engineer and where I work probably about a dozen people around me have corner unit (L-shaped) electric sit stand desks. I know the company paid about 2k or more for them as I've asked a few people. They are a different make and I was very hesitant as I knew that those desks were a little shaky, but workable.. how good would this unit be? So I bought it with two (50 lb x 2 = 100 lb) 30"x60" black tops. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06ZYR5M4S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Not counting taxes, a functioning table was < seven hundred, almost 1/3 of what the company had paid for another brand. And it's hard to get an appreciation for just how large this thing is.. 90"x60" or 7.5 feet x 5 feet. That's much larger than the ones at my work which I think are about 5" x 4". Up or down, this table is very solid. I'm planning on putting 4-5 large monitors on it with articulating arms. A setup for my laptop doc in the center of the right angle of the L pushed back so I can also use my monster industrial computer without the laptop getting in the way. I figured with everything on it, I should be approaching the 330 lb weight limitation. So I had to do the ultimate test... I am 200lbs, the table tops are 100lbs (i.e. 300lbs total) and pressed the button as I lay weight spread evenly between the 3 legs. It worked great!! nice ride and I couldn't really hear the motors strain and no shake I could perceive. I think a lot of the stability is just from the mass and the legs are tight and very solid. Only a couple of end screw holes were a little out of alignment on one side and it was just loosening some to make room for others. To join the two desk top units, the legs cross bar drops a little right at the join so if you do this you will likely have one piece sitting about 1/4" lower than the other unless you use metal strapping and screws on the bottom of the table. I had a couple of pieces of fairly thick metal with screw holes through them, I used something similar to this in a couple of places then shimmed under the table supports to keep the tops even . https://www.amazon.com/Sumnacon-Stainless-Straight-Connector-Furniture/dp/B07D8XG9KB/ref=sr_1_59?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1533449572&sr=1-59&keywords=metal+support+with+holes Last note, this whole production took a long time. I would allot 6+ hours for it. I used to build guitars, I work slowly and think things out, you may be faster, but you may be slower.. about 6 hours was my time. I did this alone, this thing is about 200 lbs assembled, so if I had a friend I would have called them :-). If there are any significant changes, malfunctions, problems, I will come back and post. So as long as it keeps doing what it's doing now.. I'm very happy. //------------------------------------------------------------------------------ // Update 9/9/18 //------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Added a picture of the desk fully functional with two stations and a treadmill especially if you have monitors on articulating arms. To use a treadmill the desk really has to be very stable as you need to put some weight on it as you walk. It is very stable, there is only a small amount of wobble and no problems at all. I think so long as you get it intact, you can't go wrong with this desk or the tops.. probably worth noting is that the black tops do tend to show dirt more, but it's not much of an issue to me. ... show more

  • Sturdy Desk and Great Customer Service
The media could not be loaded. Like others I was hesitant to order an expensive purchase with only ~100 reviews on Amazon and minimal other on line reviews - but glad I did. I had evaluated the other primary offerings in standing desks but the $1,000+ price tags for similar frame only options had kept me away. I am glad I found this frame options and hope it lasts long term. I purchased unfinished 25" depth birch butcher block counter tops at home depot; 6' for the main side and 4' for the return. Finished with stain and 4 coats of polyurethane to make a great surface. Real wood desk tops add significant costs to the other big name options on line compared to the cost of the raw counter top and my time. PROS: -Very sturdy. At seated height I notice no movement. At full standing height a very slight wobble in only one of my monitors with bumping desk but very minimal). The L shape of the desk and stiff top likely aids in the sturdiness. The weight limit was noted at >300 lbs in the description. My top is approx 100 lbs with monitors, laptop, PC etc add under another 100 lbs and desk has no issues with the weight. I am glad I purchased this model over the other slightly cheaper L frame from Vivo, as this model has a higher weight capacity. -Easy to assemble. The instructions were reasonable, a few things could have been better defined in the instructions. The assembly video helped but NOTE the video is slightly out dated, some of the bolt attachment placements have changed since the video. Due to the weight of my top, I assembled the frame and placed upright without the top, but would still recommend an extra set of hands when flipping the desk due to size and weight of the lifting legs. -Control panel: A memory with display control panel with display adds to the cost of other brand desk. The included control panel allows for 3 memory settings, display of height in cm or inches, can set the thickness of your desktop to be accounted for in the height display, and you can turn on or off the auto-screen lock. This was a complaint in other reviews of always having to hold down M for 3 seconds to unlock, this option can be turned off so you only have to touch the screen to "wake" it from sleep mode. -Customer Service - I had a couple questions I called (was not a product issue as turned out I didn't read the instructions closely enough) - both times a customer service rep quickly answered and also engaged their tech rep for assistance and resolved my question in minutes. That gave me confidence if have an issue in the future they will be supportive. -Shipping: While was not prime shipping, free shipping was quick via Fedex. I ordered on a Tuesday evening before Thanksgiving and received Friday afternoon. Item arrives in two boxes and was well protected with surrounding foam. The box handle had ripped out when delivered but no damage to inside contents. Cons: Honestly minimal other than the assembly instructional video could be updated to current version and slightly improved manual to more easily see what size bolts go in which locations, but once I got started the assembly it all made sense. Tips: Cable Management - plan out your cable management approach. I used zip ties to neatly arrange the lifting leg and controller cables under the desk, attaching the wires to the frame. Purchase an under desk cable management tray or basket to hold power bricks and allow routing loose cables to where you want to run them to the floor. I also purchased the Vivo articulating cable management "snakes" to manage the cables from the desk to the floor. I purchased longer power cables to my PC, power bricks etc - as you need to ensure you account for the additional length when the desk is fully raised. ... show more

  • Convert Ikea corner desk to standup desk
I have a corner desk that I got at Ikea 10+ years ago (I think it is a Galant desk). The desk is holding up well but I wanted to convert it to a stand up. My desk has the corner section, then a rectangular extension on the narrower side (~40"), and a semi-circle extension on the wider side. This VIVO desk frame fit my Ikea desk perfectly and is as steady as can be expected. I have had the VIVO frame for several months now. A few times, while raising the desk, the motors stopped and reversed a few inches then stopped. An error code was flashing on the control unit. But when I try raising the desk again it works every time. After removing the Ikea frame and test fitting the VIVO frame I found that several of the pre-drilled holes in the Ikea desk matched perfectly with the VIVO holes. I did still have to drill a few extra holes, but the fact that gave me more confidence this would work with my desk. I did have to contact VIVO customer service as the foot for the center column was missing. This process was very smooth. I spoke with a very nice lady in the USA and a replacement foot was shipped the same day and arrived a few days latter. ... show more
