This is an amazing tool. I use it other than instructed. It works either way because it was made so well. I brew my coffee/tea by placing grinds/leaf inside the inner container. Because I don’t like over steeped drinks. I take the inner sleeve out at my preferred steeping time and place that inside the sink. To make that easier on the go, I removed the bottom silicone ring on the inner sleeve so that i can remove the sleeve freely for this task. My drinks taste great even at the 4 hour mark because of this change I made. The design of the whole thing is smart. My other timber rhymes with “Betty” is loud when it hits the desk or counter. The Viva is not, it resembles slightly textured/rubber/silicone. So you won’t wake everyone up if you drop it on the floor in the morning. It does not leak, 100% solid on that front. If you love a French press that you can take on the go, this is it. Ease of use, quality, adaptability, cleans easy, does what it is advertised to. Great job creators!!!

I do love this Tea and Coffee French Bress brewing system. However, I wish that the interior plunger was shorter, so that it would leave room for the coffee or tea leaves at the bottom. Instead, it fits flush to the bottom of the interior of the cup and twists into place at the top. So, once you add the coffee or tea, brew, and push the plunger down, it sticks up at the top. It does seem to be a tight seal with the sides, so the liquid doesn't spill out the sides when you tilt it, but it makes me nervous to try to drink out of it. I've found that I need to decent off the liquid, dump the grounds, and then pour the liquid back into the cup and then screw the cap on in order to drink out if the cup. It does make a great cup of coffee, and you could even use it for cold brewing. It is so portable! You could absolutely take this on vacation and make your own coffee or tea in your hotel room. I do love this coffee/tea pot. I just wish it had one minor adjustment in the design.

I originally got this a present maybe 5 years ago when I started drinking loose leaf tea and instantly fell in love. This makes a great cup of tea and is completely spill proof if used correctly. the tea stays warm for hours after it is brewed. The only downfall is if you are a bit lazy in cleaning it out after use, it will start to stain, gaskets might get moldy and the strainer clogs. But again if cleaned out after use, you can keep it nice for years of daily use. I recommend this to everyone I know that drinks loose leaf or likes a fresh pressed coffee. Sadly I have contacted the company to see if they sell replacement parts and they do not ( I had a gasket break due to user error).

The suction when sliding the center either way is superior to any French press I’ve used to date. This mug is ready to go! I personally use it for work with loose-leaf green tea from Numi. I place about a tablespoon of tea on the bottom of the mug, leaving it dry for later use at work. Since the mug is insulated, it also prevents sunlight from damaging the nutrients in the leaves, which would happen if they were left in a sandwich bag or something similar. At work, I make the tea with hot water, steep for 3 minutes, and then use the mug’s compression feature to stop the steeping process. Loose-leaf tea is typically good for 1 or 2 more refills. This mug is just freakin’ awesome! I even wrote to the company to ask if they plan to release a “white” or “cream” color version.

First off: IT WORKS! Filters ground coffee well. Keeps it hot for 1 hour and warm for 3 hours while drinking, maybe longer if top kept closed fully for more than 3 hours. I remove the inner beaker filter once it’s brewed so that may reduce the heat insulation, but it’s lighter and you can drink it all. The filter doesn’t allow 100% emptying of the liquid coffee. It has fewer simpler parts than 3 others I tried. The flip top is well designed and a must. There’s nothing more annoying than having to unscrew the top for each sip. Holds 16 oz if the inner filter removed. I use it for hot coffee and iced drinks. The colors are yummy! I bought the mustard color for me, and purple for a friend. It feels good to hold as it has a matt finish, not slippery metal. Five stars!!

I've been using a French Press to make my loose leaf tea at home, which works wonderfully. This product is exactly what I was looking for - a way to brew loose leaf tea while traveling through airports and staying at hotels without over steeping and without the need for an additional cup. This is an ingenious design, leak-proof, with beautiful colors (I chose the mustard). It's easy to make tea and the leaves can be used again for a second (or third) cuppa. The only thing that really gives me pause is that the inside plunger is made of Tritan plastic, like the Aero-Press. And while the cup is made of stainless steel, your tea sits inside the Tritan plunger while you're drinking it. The manufacturer of Tritan material (Eastman Chemical) says it's free of bad chemicals and you can expose it to boiling water with no leaching but there are other sites that say Tritan shouldn't be exposed to water above 205 degrees. So, I'm going to take that into account when I steep black tea. I'm going to let boiling water cool a bit before I pour it over my tea to steep. If I were a daily commuter, I probably wouldn't use this product. I'd make my tea in a different vessel and transfer to a stainless steel or glass commuter mug. Just thought I'd pass that along. I don't think we should be exposing ourselves to plastic as much as we can avoid it. Maybe some day this can be designed with a stainless steel plunger?
