    • Leveling is Tricky
Put this in as a free-standing arbor. I inserted 4x4 posts per instructions and cemented them into the ground. Some tips that worked for me: 1) I only extended the 4x4's about 27" beyond the vinyl (rather than 36") and drilled 8" diameter holes in the ground; it took 1 80lb bag of quikcrete per hole to cement them in. While we have winds here up to 50 mph, it's not hurricane velocity and there's no fence or gate attached. 2) I assembled each side and leveled them vertically and horizontally before attaching the top, then re-leveled them to be sure. It's helpful to have a solid straight edge over 50" long to place the level on to insure the two sides are level to one another. I used bricks in the hole to keep the poles in place and level while I added the concrete. 3) The pre-drilled holes in the vinyl posts that receive the Sur-fit brackets were not placed correctly; this meant that the hole in the bottom of the bracket that is supposed to point down, pointed sideways instead. No big deal; I just made sure that those holes all faced toward the inside of the arbor so that the screw heads (used to attach the side panels to the brackets) were not visible from the outside. 4) The 4 post trim pieces that are supposed to stay snug against the underside of the 2 carrying beams tended to slide down the posts to the top of the curved arch. No problem--I just put one screw in each post just below the trim piece to keep it from sliding down and painted the screw head white. ... show more

    • Beautiful structure and easy to assemble
The arbors arrived quickly and were easy to assemble. The hard part was getting it level and in place with 4x4's. Its recommended to use 4x4's for a permanent placement. One of the boxes was torn on the bottom and on that box I was unfortunately missing two brackets. Thankfully that was all that was missing. I contacted support and they immediately sent 2 brackets in the mail. Great service, thank you! All in all I had a positive experience and I can't wait to get some climbing plants to go up these new arbors. ... show more

Used this product to replace a metal one that rusted away. After completing the lattice on one end the pieces left for the other side were 2 of one end and one of the other. Therefore, there was no middle lattice piece with holes on both sides. It was getting late and I hurriedly had to mark and cut holes on one side of one of the 2 end pieces.     • The arbor is so easy to build even I could do it
The arbor is so easy to build even I could do it. It is sturdy and looks great. I did run out of glue though, maybe include 2 tubes of glue in future shipments and add a dollar to the cost of the arbor. The tough part is getting the arbor where I want it and have it completely level. I have the holes dug just need to put the 4x4's in secure them and get it level. I am not sure if I should pour concrete in the holes or just pack in the dirt around each leg. The wife is patiently waiting for me to git-r-dun because she has vines ready to plant around the arbor. ... show more

I installed mine with the 8' 4x4's inside the legs, and then cemented them into the ground. Took a couple helpers to lift the entire arbor and drop it in the holes, otherwise it was easy. Amazon only sent one box the first round. I had to send it back and re-order. Second round I was missing parts, so I called the arbor company and the were great about sending me the missing parts. ... show more

    • Beautiful arbor
I assembled and installed mostly by myself. Def recommend helping hands. I am in process of installing fence on either side. Wish I would have thought to install base post wrap before I assembled unit. It’s a great product and project. Going to be beautiful when done. Just think about the whole project such as accessories and lighting when planning🙃 ... show more
