It did everything I needed it to do in terms of using a gun vise block for a Glock and PC9 carbine. Kept them in place for work. However be careful as the cheap metal is very unfinished and has sharp protrusions that caused a deep laceration on my finger. I quickly bandaged my finger and immediately grabbed my file to clean it up. Aside from that the thing is solid for small work. I wanted a new vice for my gun room table. I found this vise and bought it for several reasons: 1. I wanted a clamp-on vise, so I could remove it or move it easily. 2. With jaws at 3 1/2 inches, this is one of the biggest clamp-on vises I could find. 3. It swivels/rotates, so I can use the vise in multiple positions. 4. They came w/plastic covers for the jaws. 5. It was only $41 shipped to me. 6. It comes w/a nice case for storing the vise when you don’t want to use and want to store it. I have a Dewalt steel welding table and it would be really helpful to have a vice that I can attach to it. I could not tell from all the dimension whether this vice would fit through the grooves in the table. It fits and works great! I had to use a 1/2" x 3/8" x 2" spacer under the table so the clamp works effectively. Very good add! and its a very nice, small vice. Also - carries electricity just fine for welding items in the vice. 12/10/2020. Ok, I have had this vise for almost a month and I have beat the holy crap out of it. Welding; Grinding, sanding and cutting with a high-speed 4.5" grinder; and heating/bending with a TIG torch. I can't seem to hurt it. Awesome vise! ... show more

I would have given this a better rating except for a big safety hazard. Other reviewers have mentioned that the edges of the machined surfaces are sharp, but I was amazed at just how sharp they are. An unwary user could get a serious cut just unpacking this vise. I spent about an hour with a flat file deburring and smoothing these edges. DO NOT use this vise without doing this! As for the vise itself, it will be adequate for my hobbyist needs. It clamps tightly to the bench, moves smoothly, and clamps the work tightly enough for what I do. The gloves that come in the kit are too small for most adults to wear; I suspect they are provided instead of properly finishing the metal edges. ... show more

I ordered this vise for use on my welding table. It came in a very nice storage case, and upon inspecting it I was impressed with its fit and finish. It was of sturdy construction and high quality materials, and I was excited to put it into use. Unfortunately when I tried to attach it to my welding table, which has a rounded edge with about a 1" downturned lip, it wouldn't tighten down without slipping off the edge. I tried repeatedly in different locations on the table but it just wouldn't work. This was no fault of the vise, the vendor, or Amazon, it just wasn't suitable for my type of table. I returned it and got a prompt refund, which was appreciated. So even though I wasn't able to keep and use the vise I still give it 5 stars for its quality, fit, and finish and believe it will make an excellent addition to any craftsman's work bench. The vice os small, which is what I wanted, and it has the adjustments you see in the item description. The plastic bits that come with it are hard and cheap, they don’t pop on easily but if you put them in place and clamp the vice down things will pop into place. The jaw inserts (plastic bits) are the same hard plastic, not exactly flat but they keep the metal jaws off the more sensitive pieces I’m using it for, so the function is there, but I may add some other material at a later date. I also put some light grease on the screw threads and where the jaw slides back and forth which made it run a lot smoother. Overall a decent vice. Maybe about $10 overpriced, but it does its job so I’m keeping it. ... show more

This vise worked well until it broke at the base. I used it only a few times. You get what you pay for. if you want a cheap cast iron vise this is for you.
