Description

The Viper "The Freak" steel tip darts are designed with high quality, nickel silver plated barrels which offer exceptional balance and styling in a slim profile. Having a slim profile dart barrel is necessary to obtain a closer grouping of darts to maximizing scoring. Intended for use with sisal/bristle dartboards and are ideal for casual-to-intermediate level players. Each barrel has strategically placed knurled bands, deep grooves and rings that make excellent gripping points and encourages consistent hand placement. Viper "The Freak" darts are equipped with lightweight, Spinster Yukon aluminum shafts with locking holes. This unique spinning shaft rotates the flight after hitting the dartboard, which reduces the chance of deflection. Locking holes in the shaft allow for a tighter fitting to the barrel that improves stability and greatly reduces the need to retighten during play. Quality flights are constructed to help increase speed and reduce drag, delivering a consistent flight path for pinpoint accuracy; detailed graphics are prominently displayed for added flare. These darts include an additional set of convex nylon shafts, flights and a dart mechanic wrench.

  • Substantial and expensive-feeling dart set
Style Name: Grooved Barrel
I bought these darts almost two months ago to replace the cheap darts that came with my dart board. So far, these have held up great casually playing at least a few times a week. The set came with extra tips and flights, but they have remained packed away since I have had no issues at all. With the aluminum flight connection, I have no concerns about the connection posts breaking if the dart takes a fall. The knurling and grooves really help you learn how to grip the darts consistently every time. The spinning shaft was very disorienting at first, but once you get used to it, it feels weird to play with shafts that don't spin! The weight feels substantial, but not heavy, and much nicer than the weight of lighter cheap darts. ... show more

  • Excellent for the money
Style Name: Extended Band
Excellent for the money. The weight is great for me, and the balance is perfect, right at the back end of the knurling. I don't have a whole lot to complain about, but there are a few. Also GREAT shipping, I received the darts in 11 days to an APO, and a day after Christmas(They were for myself, so not a an issue). In the description it says they come with a sliding case, it arrived in a cardboard box. It shows a set of Venom flights in the picture(both sets were The Freak flights... not a deal killer). They also show 2 different sets of darts, the one I received was the set with the shorter black knurling. And the knurling is flattening pretty fast with tight groups, and the darts sliding against each-other. I've played about 10 games and the knurling is already starting to flatten in small spots. Overall with the slight issues I gave them a 4 star for the money, but my next set will definitely be tungsten. ... show more

  • Great darts for a quality starter set
Style Name: Extended Band
Great darts for the price. I ordered 2 sets as part of my starter kit. Heavy enough for newer players but refined enough for the average player. They are not tungsten, therefore the dart body is thicker than high end darts. When you get good enough to start tightly grouping darts, the thickness comes into play because they start pushing each other aside. FYI, the spinning shaft is not a novelty, it is intended to allow the darts to brush past each other on the board without kicking out a dart due to contact with another dart's flight. I'm not a huge fan of this feature because I feel the slightest bit of wobble at the joint when I'm throwing. Very mild, but it's there. Personal preference I assume. You can always swap out shafts...they are cheap. Also, get some O-rings (again, dirt cheap) to place between the dart and the shaft to keep the shaft snug. ... show more

  • Great value for a backup set
Style Name: Grooved Barrel
Best non-tungsten darts I have thrown. Not having played regularly in over 15 years I wanted something good without spending a fortune and these performed admirably. Definitely a little bulky because the low density steel, so I would stick to long shafts for stability, but that's to be expected. Quickly bought myself a new set of tungsten darts, but find these are great for guests or beginners. Most are impressed with how much better their game is with these. I guess my only negative would be how quickly the black finish has worn on the front of the dart, but if you're playing with dart snobs, these certainly aren't the darts for you anyway. Is my game better with my tungsten set? Without a doubt. But for the price, these can't be beat. ... show more

  • Looks nice, didn't work all that great
Style Name: Triple Band
The darts come in a plastic case, that by all appearances, looks great. The plastic case is see-through and the clips that hold the darts seem to hold them securely. The case, however, is a b*tch to open. The top slides down instead of on a hinge and I struggled with it for awhile the first time, and the second time, and a few times after that. Inside, it does hold the darts, flights, and tools well. As far as the darts I received, they looked exactly as the picture shows and came with a spare set of flights. The only problem I really experienced was that the spinner didn't work on one of the darts. When you have spinning flights on a dart that doesn't spin, it throws you a little off. In short, they're a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. Not horrible, but I've had better. ... show more
