  • Performs Well Despite Some Clumsy Controls & Lame "Night Mode"
Color: Black
Ok, been a few months and too many YT videos. Mostly ranch-related, wildlife to indoor stuff but also hack film projects. Very happy with performance; works well; above-average accessories (xtra battery; cords, etc.) I film way too much stuff but in a filmable area to put it lightly so carried on hikes, in garden, around farm; good and compact and ok after inevitable drop or two. (Results may vary on latter!) Gripes. Most perhaps "git off my lawn" old man stuff: G1: The main "Start recording/stop" most popular button is a good size but, me at least, never have an easy time with it. Doesn't seem to respond each time or must push harder than you'd think, thus fumbling with the compact size and always accidentally touching other buttons (that don't trigger anything but still). May be me. Adult male but Nosferatu hands (say what?). G2. The "night mode" night vision seems no different than reg and pretty useless beyond very close things that may be illuminated by the 3 tiny little lights that then come on. The cheaper one this replaced had amazing NV; got to read fine print on that. Note: all this general hobby; no big deals. So bought an "average" Amazon camcorder; not cheapest but dang close. This was discounted so another "step up" but not much. Seems better quality than last but prefer old one, no offense to this perfectly-functional one. G3. "Dang, Ethel! You'd expect the nifty case provided to FIT the dang thing!" Ok, it DOES but not with the battery that extends its length enough so it won't fit in the case. BUT (git off my ... oh. did that) after I stubbornly jammed it in a few times, it stretched out. So like a new sock perhaps that needs a little pull. Moot in practice as I usually want if available faster so just put in a pocket. NOTE: NOTHING NEGATIVE to it's reason for existence. Good value. Working great and happy with it. I know there are different forms of NV, few really the tech version so perhaps this just has a closeup or diff version I did not clue into and/or some control combo also missed. IT WORKS WELL FOR PRICE. Rest pretty good. I wish the port for the memory card allowed a little more room to grab the damn thing but that's standard with all devices now (git off my lawn!). Pics are screenshots so cam's results may be better vs what shows up here. I like the options of a super HD, reg HD and VGA. ... show more

  • Exceeded Expectations in Quality and Ease of Use
Color: Black
This camcorder exceeded my expectations. The video quality is clear and sharp, even in lower light, and the audio picks up voices well without distortion. It’s lightweight, easy to handle, and the menu is very user-friendly. Battery life is solid, and transferring footage is quick and simple. Great option for anyone wanting reliable video without a steep learning curve. ... show more

  • Solid camera that works
Color: Black
So far I've only inserted the battery and turned it on and tried it out. Before that I learned that you need to buy an SD card to store videos, and I purchased a 128gb card. I found the place to insert the card. I still have yet to find out where to plug in the charging cord. It's a mystery. When I went outside to try it out, the zoom is terribly lacking. I have other cameras that can zoom 30 or 40 feet to make it look like 5 feet away. This one still looks like 30 feet away at the most powerful zoom. Other than these shortcomings, the camera seems solid and dependable for short range videos. Update 3-1-2026 I finally got the SD card, and it works. I guess. It says to format it. The instructions are pitifully poor. There are also way too many options for this little camera, and that, I believe, is the problem. I'm not trying to make cinematographic motion picture here. It took me hours just to change the language to English. It looked German, but I think it came with Dutch installed because the options said EG, DT, and others. I think DT means Dutch. After getting the language to English, it was a little better, but managing the menu buttons and stuff was still a big problem. The on/off for just starting a video shoot is not where the instruction pictures show. It is a natural position, though, where your thumb would be on the front of the camera. I finally managed to figure out how to start and stop a video. Finding the photo button is easy on the top. Starting a video is on the back, not the top. I still have yet to navigate through the complex instructions on how to manage the stored videos like in deleting them. Haven't found that yet. It's very hard to find. Next is the batteries. It comes with two batteries that seem to be charged on arrival. At least the first one I attached worked for a little while, not much time. I barely punched a few minutes of video, and it went dead. Also, the method of charging these batteries is still a mystery that I am working on as I write this review. There is a place inside the camera with the whatchamacallit lid open that allows the included cord that attaches there and then to a USB port in the computer or wherever. It has two options that require you to say "yes" to. One is for PC to camera, which I have yet to do for uploading pictures to your PC. The other, I assume, is for charging the battery. Duh. Who knows. It had the letters DC in it, so I am figuring that that is for charging the battery. I just looked at the picture on the camera screen, and it shows something like an SD card being charged. I see a red light on the back end of the camera, which I assume is a "not yet done" indicator. I have done an extraordinary amount of "assuming" on this whole setup process. After decades of figuring out problems, I'm not a novice in flying blind, and my instincts in this regard have served me well once again. Like I said, the video looks good. And the camera is solid. The zoom seems lacking. Instructions are very poor. Other than that, for the ridiculously low price of $50 or so, this is a good product. Update 3-2-2026 Learning how to use this camera requires a long-term commitment. I discovered how to work a few more features today. One is how to delete videos or pictures, which I guess are stored on the SD card. That was pretty straight forward, but once again, you have to know how to navigate in this menu. It's quite a process of pressing secondary buttons. Another is how to hook the camera up to a PC. When you plug in the USB cord to the computer and then to the camera, it shows one of two options. One is to charge the battery, and the other is to connect to a PC. One big thing is that you need to download some kind of software called AMCAP to your PC. They allow a free trial for some period of time. Haven't figured that out yet. And, they charge about 300 to 400 dollars per year subscription. As an amateur photographer, I am not about to pay that just to get my videos uploaded to my PC. Although the software looks good (I can start and stop the camera from my PC), I still was never able to find out how to upload the saved videos on my camera to my PC. So, this user is still working on all these problems. Another problem left to solve is the sound. Recording onto the camera, the sound is very low volume. I tried looking everywhere on the menu to find out how to turn the volume up. It has one icon on the system menu that shows a speaker, and I thought that would be the one, but it is only to turn the beep sound on and off. And the AMCAP videos that I record from there has no sound at all. I found no menu options to turn the volume up, even though the volume of my computer is turned up to 100%. Maybe tomorrow I will figure the rest of this out. ... show more
