  • Been using Vicks vapor rub for decades
My mom used this on me when I was a kid, and I used it on my kids and grandkids. I still use it when I have a cold and am all stuffed up. It’s the only way I can sleep at night.

  • Vapor smell is awful
I know this is a vapor rub and it does really well at keep your nose open so you can breathe better. I just really dont like the way it smells. If you are ok with menthol you will love this product.

  • Vick’s may not be good for everything, but...
Vicks is pretty amazing stuff. It’s been around, virtually unchanged, since a pharmacist in North Carolina created it back in 1890, copying the ingredients of French Ben-Gay– it was first marketed in 1905 under the not-very-enticing brand name “Vick's Magic Croup Salve”, but a family member convinced them to change the name to VapoRub in 1912. The family that made it became millionaires (back when a million dollars really meant something) with the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918, despite it treating only the flu’s symptoms and not curing it. Vick’s is primarily used for colds and coughs: it’s the stuff moms rub on their children’s chests (and adults rub on their own) to help clear up coughs and congestion, and it really works for most people. It contains menthol, camphor and eucalyptus oil, which are cough suppressants and mild topical analgesics. But that is just the original and primary use for the stuff; the list goes on from there. Because of its analgesic qualities, Vick’s works rubbed into sore muscles, it is used to treat toenail fungus, it limits the itching of mosquito bites and speeds healing of small cuts and burns. If you are a cat or dog, you’ll likely hate the smell, so it can be used to train pets not to pee or scratch furniture where you don’t want them to— just rub a dab of the stuff into the carpet or rug and your pets will stay away. VapoRub is supposed help clear up both eczema and acne, according to edrugsearch.com (I can’t vouch for it, as I outgrew acne 40 years ago, and have never had eczema. Rubbed in a few times a day, it is described as a means of minimizing postpartum stretch marks. If you stick a cotton ball with Vicks on it into your ear before going to bed, it is supposed to cure your earache. An open jar or two on the picnic table should keep most insects away. And the list goes on. And on. And on. Recommended. ... show more

  • Works exactly as suppose to
It works as suppose to but the delivery time was 1 month. Being used to Amazon prime delivery, I didn't bother to look at the delivery time frame. My fault, but still - 1 month? Did it come from China?

  • Can be a topical analgesic - see label
I’m brand-loyal to Vick’s Vapo Rub, and I’ve been using it since I was a child. Aside from being a nasal decongestant, it’s a topical analgesic...you have to be careful to keep it out of your eyes. But it may give you some temporary relief from pain in your head or neck. I’m satisfied that Amazon offers a comparable or better price than I can find in local stores. As soon as I open a jar, I buy another. This is one of those products I never want to be without. It’s very strong and is not something I would use if I was going anywhere. In comparison to other or generic brands, Vick’s is the best. ... show more

Love the product . . . the reason for the average rating is this product expires in four months. I'm not sure who could use the jar by July 2023!
