I bought this to use to install and remove my vintage VW engines. It is 100x better than balancing an engine on a floor jack and handles the weight with ease. The build on this unit is solid and the wheels roll great. There are wheel locks on two of them which hold very well, even on a slight slope. The controls work perfectly, but for my purposes, the lowering is much too abrupt. The ergonomics are great, but trying to fine tune the height, loaded, going down, is very difficult to adjust. Going up, I can pump the lever to easily get the height I want, but if I overshoot and need to adjust back down, it is really quick and jerky if I try to lower just a little. By little, I mean an inch or so. I think most people that buy this will not have any issues with lowering at all because in general, it works perfectly. Overall, I don't regret the purchase at all and will never go back to installing an engine with a floor jack. Even with the minor lowering issue, for my purposes, this unit is worth its weight in gold.

My husband and I are 83 and 77. It's very difficult to lift heavy items very high. We ordered this to help us move our mid-sized generator from the garage floor to the platform built for it on our RV. It does an amazing job, relieving us of a most difficult task at our age. It was adjustable to the exact height we needed, so we did almost no lifting or weight-bearing ourselves. My husband had even used it as an adjustable table or bench while working on other jobs in the garage or driveway. He can sit at the level he needs to reach what he's working on. It's very sturdy, well-made, and only takes up about 24x24 inches of storage space on the floor. One of our best purchases. We recommend it to our friends.

For my home use purpose, this lift is fine. I doubt I will ever get close to lifting the load rating. There is virtually no assembly - Just have to attach the foot pedal - so it is ready to go almost immediately. Operation is smooth and fluid. The only negatives: 1. The picture above shows a lift height of 28.5" but this is not correct. With the lift in the fully extended position, the overall height is 28.5". So, the 28.5" inches is from the floor to the top of the lift platform. The description would have you believe that the lifting height is 28.5" and you would then add the caster height and the frame height to get the overall height which would likely be around 34" inches NOT the actual 28.5". So be careful if you expect to lift something to about the standard height of a kitchen or bathroom or workbench height (36"~). This will only get it lifted to 28.5" and you will still need to figure out how to get it that additional 8" or flush with your counter. The other negative is that they give you a loose rubber mat which is useless unless you glue it down to the top. It is going to be a safety hazard if it is just sitting loose on the slick platform. Not sure I understand why they ship it loose.

We bought this item in May, took it out of the box once received to look for obvious and visible damage, which we saw none. Unfortunately, we left for the summer and are now ready to use this lift. In further review of the lift it is poorly put together and crooked, the handle welds are all off square, making the handle locking mechanism hard to secure and once forced into locking position, now the handle is slanted because the weld is off square. Since I am past the return date I am forced to deal with and keep this item that is difficult to operate.
