I’ve used several different methods for breaking tire beads loose over the years. While all of the methods I’ve used work, they are usually time consuming, frustrating, and some are pretty sketchy. I decided to install TPMS in a few of my trailer wheels, and wanted to do it myself. Within about 10 minutes of this bead breaker being delivered I had the first bead broken down. There was no excessive effort involved. I just followed the instructions, and the bead popped right off. This is absolutely the easiest tool I’ve used for breaking beads (aside from large pneumatic ones). The tool I ordered came with both the hook AND padded arm, so it can be used with both steel and aluminum wheels. This is one of the few budget tools I’ve purchased, that I’m actually completely satisfied with. I’ll definitely be recommending this tool to my friends.

I was unsure of this but I found it worked fine. I changed all the TPMS sensors in my wife's car in 1 afternoon (including a break job) I recommend this tool for that kind of work.

I bought the VEVOR Manual Tire Bead Breaker to replace my tpms on my 2015 F150 XL 265/70R17 It took a few minutes to figure out how to use it without damaging the OEM rims. It works great.

My Autel Mx tpms sensor failed so I needed to swap it out. I have 18” alloy wheels and 27” tires so I wasn’t sure how this was going to go. I put on the non marring attachment and tried it out. I saw some reviews use a mallet so I had one handy and it did help. After you take out the valve stem to let out the air you wedge this thing under the lip of the wheel. First attempt I didn’t get it deep enough and then took it back off. The trick is to press it down with your weight and then move it under the lip. I have a couple light taps and it sat under the lip by about 1/8”. Hold it in place and then hand tighten the front nut. Once it gets tight use an adjustable wrench and tighten it some more. Then start on the other nut to plunger it down. I held it in position just in case as I plunged it down. Once I got lower than the sensor I replaced the sensor (press in style so it comes off rather easy). Undid everything, put a ratchet strap around the tire to assist reseating the bead and then blew it up. I did scratch the inside wall a bit on the first try, but second was minimal scratching inside the lip. Tire spoons were useful to help get the bead around the sensor. After I had it all filled up I checked for leaks and found a small leak (10 yr old winter tire so they have a couple small tears around the bead.) I decided to deflate the tire and check it out. Second time was much faster and I cleared out some gunk that caused the leak. Overall a good tool. It is way easier than using the harbor freight manual tire exchanger I used last time. The bar on that kept slipping. This was much more secure.

This bead breaker is helpful, but not sufficient for some steel wheels. Not recommended for allow wheels. The breaker works by pressing a small "hook" over the inside of the wheel which pulls the main "shoe" between the steel rim and the rubber bead. It that works, it should successfully break the bead. Three problems: Some steel wheels have a smooth surface so the hook can't grab and hold. The tool just pops off without breaking the bead. Secondly, this tool was hard on old steel wheels from a work truck. I would not attempt to use it on alloy wheels. They'd be badly marked-up. Thirdly, this tool essentially pries against the rim to push off the bead. That's OK for steel, but a badly stuck truck tire bead could result in a broken alloy rim. I used this tool together with a Harbor Freight tire changer's bead breaker to break beads loose. I needed both tools, tire irons, and a big hammer to get the job done. This tool by itself was not sufficient for light truck tires. It can be very difficult to get the shoe pressed between the rim and the tire.

I can see how this would be great for some tires/wheels but my wheel, i was not able to clamp the arm to the inside surface of the wheel. If you can't do this, the device will pop out every time and also scratch up your rim. So before you buy, make sure the inner wheel surface is close to the rim.
