  • Great quality all around!
I have a fairly small two person canoe that I use in the Finger Lakes area. On longer trips up and down the coastline, I like to stop, relax and take in the view. Maybe stretch out and get some sun too! Until now, I've just drifted when doing this which usually leads to me being pushed into shore. Now that I have this anchor, I don't have to worry about keeping an eye out as much! The anchor itself is very well made. I really like the lock mechanism to unfold/fold the craws. Having the buoy on the rope is nice if I want to leave it in the water while I break away and come back. Overall, I'm very pleased with it. The rope also seems OK, but if I need to replace that after a few years, I will consider it normal wear and tear. ... show more

  • A Must for Kayak Fishing
Fishing in a kayak can be lots of fun. You can get very close to obstructions and bedding places and can go into very shallow water. However, with most kayaks it seems that the slightest breeze can move you from where you want to be to somewhere you definitely don't want to be. So, on a breezy day you may find yourself doing more paddling than fishing. The answer is a kayak anchor. I had been wanting a kayak anchor for some time, but couldn't settle on one. When I saw this 3.5 lb folding anchor, I decided to take the plunge. The anchor is made of cast iron, and is generously painted with thick green paint. The paint coverage is even, leaving none of the metal exposed. The ring that secures the tines in either the up or down position is easy to manipulate and positively locks everything in the closed position. In the open position, the ring is more loose, but I suppose this does not matter as much because the anchor will be engaged and will not fold under those conditions. The anchor comes with a little over 26' of nylon rope that is threaded through a buoy and terminates at a clip that you can use to attach to the kayak. All of this comes in a padded bag with at drawstring top. This is nice because it not only gives you somewhere to store the gear, but also helps to prevent from the anchor or other hardware from scratching/ damaging the kayak when stowed. One of my issues here is that I would have liked for the manufacturer to provide more rope. Some of the places I go get close to 20' deep in some areas, and that does not leave a lot of rope to allow for some drift. I can, and very well may, add some rope when I go to those places, but 35-40' of rope would seem to be more appropriate. In addition, the bag that they give you is barely long enough to fully cover the anchor length. I could not get the drawstring top fully closed over the anchor. Another 1-2" of material would have fixed this problem. My final analysis here is that this is a great little anchor, and will perform well in holding a kayak in place when deployed and will fold up and stow easily when not in use. The rope and bag issues notwithstanding, I would still recommend this anchor. ... show more

  • Convenient Little Anchor
Up until now we've used a milk jug filled with pebbles and sand for our anchor, so this is quite the upgrade! It doesn't take up much landscape either, which is a plus for being carried on a kayak. I appreciate how it folds together for this. However it would have been a plus if the included bag had been a couple inches longer, as the anchor, even when folded and angled in the bag, comes almost to the top of the bag, making cinching it closed a challenge, especially when the rope and buoy are in the bag too. The bag is a solid, dense material, which should hold up well over time. The marine grade rope is impressive and the placement of the buoy on the line is adjustable, which will allow me to move it along this rope, if desired. I plan to use this anchor for securing floating partying tubes when the warmer weather arrives too. Overall a nice addition to 'secure' some of the water toys we have. ... show more

  • It Is Impressive
Are 12' aluminum boat my wife and I like to take out for some easy fishing. The 8lb mushroom anchor used for the front she always complained about having to put in and especially take out (she sits in the front). I thought we would try a lighter wait grappling anchor after doing a bit of research on them. Well the 3.5 pound grappling did the same job as the 8 pound mushroom design and so much easier to handle. I decided to go with the electroplated (nice) VEVOR product after looking at others that where just a plain galvanized cast iron. A package deal of the storage bag, rope, clasp and float all together looked like a winner and it is The anchor folds up so easy & clean then goes in the bag, leaving no ropes to lay in the bottom of the boat. I will be getting another one for the back Very happy ... show more

  • Nice anchor perfect for rental kayaks
I like kayaking but I rent kayaks. So when I go to the sandbar, I have to babysit my kayak or worry it will float away. This should be perfect so I can enjoy my time at the sandbar without having to worry about the kayak. It comes with a nice durable bag, but well see how the anchor itself holds up over time. I will say that the fact that it says it will grip coral is concerning. Not that it can physically do it, but that it would suggest that as a use. You should never anchor on coral, unless you know for sure it is completely dead and even then. ... show more
