For 85 bucks I really have no complaints. A few modifications and it’s really a fantastic little still. Obviously you don’t want your condenser sitting on the hot lid so a simple swivel and a stick took care of that. The only other negative is the thermometer that’s comes with. First off it reads to 400 degrees. Steam only gets to 212 at sea level. 400 is much too large a range to take accurate readings. Also the thermometer threads rusted after one use. So I chucked it and replaced with a 220 degrees stainless version

The Vevor Moonshine Still 9.6 Gal is an outstanding value for an item that is practical and useful for preparedness. Upon arrival, I noted that the item is constructed of high-grade steel and copper. Assembly was pretty straight forward as noted by the included instructions. Although I, personally, am not using the still for making moonshine, I could use the included instructions and recipes to do so. For those using the still to distill water, the item works flawlessly and the distilled water is easily collected for later use. Working great for distilling water, but a few notes. One, I'm doing it in my house, so to be safer, I use a 12lb weight on top instead of the clamps. Two, you'd need a lot of ice to keep it cool enough. I'm distilling my own water for my mom's medical equipment primarily, and because I'm trying to save money with it, I thought a bit to find a far cheaper option. I bought a cheap car radiator and a pump. Attached the radiator to a box fan. Dropped the pump and hose into the bucket that feeds the condenser. Works great to keep it cool. Three, replaced the thermometer with a more a high quality one with a larger dial that ranges from 0 to 210 Fahrenheit. The one it came with was rusting after one use, and for no reason, went all the way 400. The only reason I dropped it to 4 stars was the rusting thermometer. Highly recommend for those who want a cheap and big 8-gallon distiller they can run while working from home. I'm sure I'll have it for many years to come.

I bought the 3gal version Cons -The lid seal that came with the pot is not a flat type seal, it sits vertically. This makes it nearly impossible to get the seal to sit in the groove and stay there. This makes sealing the pot tedious and rather annoying - The thermometer that came with it is different than the one that is shown in the pictures. It sits too high on the lid, which prevents the condenser pit from neatly sitting on the lid. This is mostly fine as I suppose you don't want the cold condenser sitting directly on the hot pot, but it looks bad having the condenser hanging off the edge with one foot on the lid. I ended up using a digital thermometer instead for better accuracy. - The weld at the bottom of the pot is already starting to tarnish after one use. I'm using the pot to distill lower alcohol content alcohol to a higher level, which isn't corrosive. I am unsure I would recommend putting anything acidic in this pot, YMMV. -With those cons it makes the product feel poorly designed/thought out Pros -Everything needed is in one kit other than a pump if you want to flow cold water over the condensor. -For the price, it's a low barrier of entry to try some stuff out or for hobby level activities. -It seems to do the job

ordered the 9.8 gallon and received the 8 gallon. Missing air pump. Other than that I am very happy with the still. I have made a lot of runs and it consistently gives me 140 proof no problem. Keep your worm cold!!! 190-200 you'll be runnin!

So let's remember for the product you are paying for an hamburger not a steak dinner. This still will fill you up and get rid of your hunger but it's not fancy and doesn't have all the fixings. For the price it's worth it! For an entry level brewer/distiller it's perfect. Honestly it is about the same prices as building your own still but probably safer. Pros 1)Good construction no dents, missing parts, or manufacturing Oops 2)All in one! I have heard some hate on the idea of fermenting in your distilling pot but I tried it and it seems to be fine. Just don't run high heat when distilling. But for sanitation having everything in one pot and it stays in there is nice. 3) All compression fittings! So I like that we don't have to worry about solvents and solder. Plus if something isn't sealed right I can fix it easier with a wrench rather than a blow torch. Con 1) Doesn't work with induction! Easily fixed with a steel plate but still another step and makes it less efficient 2) Condenser is onto of the still! So yes there is heating/cooling issues with this design. Think outside the box and swing the condenser to the side and put something under it for support. BOOM problem solved, thank you compression fittings!! 3)Throw away junk! Throw away the airlock it's junk and buy a new. While your at it throw away the photocopied instruction and YouTube Barley and Hops Distilling. Throw away the hoses and buy new food-grade hoses (I'm just suspect of the ones supplied).
