These pots were a little smaller than I thought they would be. I want to use them for succulent favors for a bridal shower and they are quite little. 12 of them did not have the shiny glaze and I assume were unfinished like the other 24. I am using them anyway but they should have all been finished the same.

I like the color finish of these pots. I typically paint the terracota pots black with acrylic paint so the fact that these are already black is great. The color finish is perfect. They came well packaged however I found many of them with defects which is “ok” if you are gonna use them in your garden but not good if you plan to gift as party favors.

REVIEW FOR TERRACOTTA POTS This item came the day after I ordered it (I had prime too). I ordered the black painted pots and I absolutely love them. I plan to buy the white ones or maybe the regular ones in the future. I put the black alongside some regular clay terracotta pots and the color contrast looks really nice by the way. PACKAGING… The packaging was impressive. I plan to keep the packaging to store the pots in when they aren’t in use. When they arrived, I opened a box to find another box inside. The second box covered a Styrofoam box with a flat lid. The pots were arranged in three stacks of 12 (one pot in another and lain on their side) separated by some Styrofoam. Each pot is individually wrapped in plastic and then held together with a little more plastic. I looked at every pot and there was zero damage due to shipping and handling. OVERALL QUALITY…The pots are made very well and the paint is a lovely black color (the perfect shade of black in my opinion). It is thick and good quality paint. I tried to scratch it off with my fingernails on the bottom of some pots without any success. The paint will not get worn off or scratched easily. The pots will dry out slower due to the paint (as would any painted terracotta pot) but I think that is worth the color. In a way, that is beneficial since the small terracotta pots dry out a little too fast sometimes in my experience. Also, the pain doesn’t cover the interior (the part that soil will cover) which helps it dry faster. In the next paragraph I listed the flaws I did find on the pots just to give you an idea of what to expect. MINOR FLAWS….A lot of them have tiny flaws but the majority were just fine. If you look through the stacks of terracotta pots at Menards or another store, every pot will have some sort of flaw. That is just how clay pots are. Each flaw was found on 2-4 pots max, and most are only noticeable up close. The following is a list of these flaws: • A number of pots had tiny spots that lacked paint almost like a mini air bubble. • Approximately three had a small to medium chip that was painted over and definitely will not make the pots more susceptible to breakage. • Only two had a kind of funny wrinkle at the very bottom because the clay wasn’t perfectly smooth. • Three or more had some dripped paint that is noticeable on the top rim. • The only flaw that I was upset about was found on about four pots. Those four were lacking a noticeable amount of paint and had fingerprints like someone had touched them before they had dried. I will have to find a similar paint to cover up the spots, or I may be able to add decorative paintings over those spots like they have in the photos on Amazon. Overall, I am very pleased. The fingerprints were my only dislike. I assume that would not be something that commonly happens. The pots really make me smile. I enjoyed opening each and looking at them. A lot of them were just perfectly made and painted.

Yes there are cheaper small planting pots for starting your seeds, but I simply love terracotta pots. I like the sturdy feel and weight. They don't warp and you can count on them not cracking along the top edges over time which is typically what happens to my plastic planting pots over time. It can be a little extra effort to get the plant out of them because you can't warp the pot to help loosen the dirt, but I find that slightly tapping the terracotta pot on various sides provides the same outcome. I don't currently have any succulents, but these small pots, appear perfect for the small succulents. Very excited about these and hope to have these for years to come.
