This is my first French press. Never used one before this and never drank coffee made with one before this. I have to be honest... this is now my favorite way to brew coffee. This Veken (I got the 34 oz in copper) is not only beautiful in the copper finish, but looks nicer on my counter than any drip or other machine ever could. It's sexy. It functions flawlessly and cleans easily with the included cleaning sponge. The additional milk frother has been great. I no longer have to shake containers to get foam. The double mesh filters do an excellent job of keeping grounds out, the plunger is easy to disassemble, wash and clean. However, until my whole beans arrive I am using pre ground coffee. It's definitely finer than you want for this setup, obviously, but it is not something undrinkable in the end. I wouldn't try to make espresso in this. Overall this machine and the coffee it produces is smooth and not over cooked in taste at all. I would buy this again and I would recommend it. Pros: - borosilicate glass!!! - nice capacity in the 34 oz - it's beautiful. The copper finish is stunning - works as it says on the box Cons: - not the biggest fan of how the handle and holder assembly are attached, i don't like having to put screwdrivers near the glass, but what else could they really do? - the carafe is tight in the holder and a little tough to remove easily, but it slides out if a little wet Not enough cons to remove stars. This is the 4th or 5th french press I've owned in my lifetime, all because I constantly break them. Most are thin glass and often they aren't attached the piece that surrounds the glass, so one slip in the sink when cleaning and they crack. I was about to buy stainless or ceramic for my next one in the hopes of making it last but I hate the idea of not being able to see my coffee as it brews - I like it *really* dark and strong. Thankfully someone here mentioned this one being nice thick glass so I went for it and they were absolutely right - this one feels heftier and sturdier than any other I've had. It's also securely attached to the metal frame around it so it won't slip out when I wash it. The screen is a very nice, fine mesh - I haven't had any grounds or thick sludge (make sure you use coarse ground coffee, as you should with any french press). And honestly I didn't even read all that it came with so I was pleasantly surprised - a new coffee scoop, a wooden spoon for stirring your coffee grounds and water together, extra screens (this is a fantastic addition), a soft cleaning sponge, and a milk frother. Easy to use!! Simply place coffee (1 scoop per Cup) into the coffee maker, add hot water, stir, then wait 3+ - minutes before pushing the plunger down, to complete a finished cup of coffee 👏 This system makes a grounds free coffee without any extra filter systems….An Excellent Coffee maker!!

This looks great in person, feels sturdy, and worked perfectly. I would say it's the perfect size for 2 people, and also a good size for travel/packing. I have brought it on multiple camping trips and cabin getaways- it has been packed in my overnight bag, loose in a car, in a backpack, and in a variety of other places. I'm careful but I'm not perfect, and so far it doesn't have a single mark. For two people, I start heating water as soon as I wake and have 2 full thermoses before you know it. I have also used it to serve 4, 5, and 6 people on various trips (for some reason not everyone carries a coffee maker while backpacking) and as long as you keep water on the fire and keep it moving, it has been large enough to do that. It's easy enough to clean, I just wash it quickly by hand while traveling and haven't had a problem so far. The included cleaning wand is a nice extra but you won't need to pack it. ... show more

I bought this brand press about six years ago and have very much enjoyed the ease of use, cleaning and very efficient build. The old one developed a hairline crack on the bottom and would leak just drops of coffee when making it so I thought I'll check if they still make this and get another one. Really quick delivery, well packaged with an improved and attractive carriage for the carafe. The glass is now more than twice as thick as my old one. I use an eleven ounce cup and have two cups before I start my day. Imagine my surprise when I only get 1 1/2 cups of coffee each brew. This is the 27 ounce model, the scale stops at 27 well below the top bar of the carriage. The scale is either placed wrong or terribly optomistic. I'll continue with this one but I'm disappointed that the capacity doesn't measure up to advertised. I'll change cups to smaller so I can still get two. Inflation I guess. ... show more
