Great boots, they look sharp and they're comfortable right out of the box. I tend to have a problem where my toes are very sensitive to pressure from a boot or to pressing into the front or top of a boot - and going up in size tends to make the problem worse because my foot slides around and jams into the front of the boot - leather boots tend to have this problem to a great degree for me and I use leather boots for yardwork because they hold up to shovel digging & other work and they don't get sopping wet from wet grass or mud. These Vasque boots have a very roomy toe box and at the same time fit snuggly (not tight - snug) around the rest of my foot - so your foot doesn't slide side to side or forward, the toe area doesn't press down anywhere. And these boots look sharp - in fact it was hard to wear them out in the garden the first time because I knew they were going to be subjected to digging, lawn mowing etc. Then I realized that the price was so good I could buy another pair for non-messy work...so that's what I'm about to do!! I love the look of these boots, and they feel good when I first put them on. They are gonna take some time to break in. I have a bunion on one foot and I ordered my normal size at first, but sent them back and ordered 1/2 size up and wide, they are much better. One thing that annoys me is the leather kind of squeaks when I walk. I may find some good boot oil and treat them to see if that helps. These are very well made and I hope they end up being what I need. ... show more

Boots are true to size, the wide width is perfect for my old flat feet. No noticeable rubbing, or sore spots. Nice and stiff sole. Good traction. Super comfortable and sturdy. I have only used them on three 2-3 hour hikes, no large backpack, my feet were very happy.

Update: another year with these boots. My first pair lasted me 2 1/2 years but were a size half too small because my arch flattened out. donated and someone will make use of those for years to come. I’ve had these size 8 for a year. These are the best boots I’ve ever had definitely roomie toebox, but doesn’t have a huge circumference/ volume in the boot so your feet don’t move around, instead the boot hugs your foot so that you can be nimble and solid with your footing. I am a very active lady who is now approaching 60 but just can’t slow down. I do rugged trails and I run two large Rottweilers loose. I take these out even a deepest snow, but I also will put on snow gators around the tops. I do coat them with mink Oil once or twice a year as you should take care of your leather. End of update. We Durable, stable, slip resistance water resistant, real leather, inside and outside support. Lateral support which is crucial. Disliked that one shoe lace not quite as long as needed. ... show more

These boots are beautiful. I had been looking for a leather boot and these were exactly what i was looking for. However the toe box is a bit narrow and i will need to wear them with a thinner sock. I'm hoping that they will stretch a bit more as I wear them in. I've read they need time to stretch. I tried other brands with a wider toe box but the height of the mid sized tops, rubbed painfully above my ankle. These, while just as tall do not hurt my leg. Not sure if I should have gone for the wide, I had my foot sized as at a retailer that sold Vasque boots but didn't have this style and it was recommended I would need a size 9 medium. that is why I went with these rather than the wide. Possibly the wide would have resulted in a better fit. ... show more

    • Desert Taupe much narrower than Cognac color
I need all leather boots because of the clothing requirements to ride in the helicopter for my fieldwork, and it's kind of difficult to find good all leather hiking boots that are not expensive. I also need to have separate sets of field gear for particular field sites to prevent transporting plant pathogens in the soil. So I already have 2 pairs of these boots in Cognac color. I use these for travel sometimes, and my little toes hurt sometimes at the end of the day if I walk a lot that day and didn't wear thicker sucks, but overall they are fine and very waterproof. I decided to get Desert Taupe color this time to help me distinguish which pairs are for which sites. I ordered the same size (7 normal), but these are a slightly different (newer?) model (despite having the same name) that are much narrower. I can barely squeeze my feet inside. I guess 7.5 or 8 might fit me better but those sizes are all unavailable. What a pity. Now I have to decide if I should buy a third pair of the Cognac instead... ... show more
