    • Makes Vallejo and Hataka spray like lacquers

I just use Vallejo Flow Improver to thin Vallejo Model Air and Hataka Red Line acrylics. With my Eclipse HP-CS (.35mm), I go 1:1 (paint to Flow Improver) for base coating and 1:2 for camouflage and mottling. Key is to gradually build up the color. I get absolutely no tip dry with these ratios even in our arid desert environment. Let paint dry takes a bit longer but still significantly less than if using enamels . I no longer use Vallejo Airbrush Thinner with the Flow Improver since the Flow Improver alone does a better job at controlling and eliminating tip dry. Never had much luck with the Airbrush Thinner…causes way too much tip dry and clogging. ... show more

While there are acrylic paints out there that can flow throw an airbrush with ease, for the most part you're going to want to invest in some of this product. Airbrush flow improver is sort of like a thinner and a paint medium combined, creating the "milky" consistency in paint that is ideal for proper flow. It's quite easy to use and 1 bottle can go a long way. I'm not sure if Vallejo is necessarily the best flow improver around, but it works very well and I feel the price is spot on. I really like this stuff. I buy the Vallejo primers and mix this with it to make it thinner, and recently decided to mix it in a better/bigger squeeze bottle, so bought some more. The first one I bought was from Maker Source, then a day later the price dropped almost $5 so I bought two more. The bottle from Maker Source came without any shrink on it, and with less in it. Product is good for my airbrush and also for brush work as it dilutes the paint without making it lose its coverage. As with all mediums, dilution ratios vary per project or tool so your mileage may vary.

I never really have too many issues with running acrylic paint through my airbrushes, but once in a while I get the occasional clog, especially when running primer. Thought I’d give this a try and so far so good....haven’t had a single clog since I started using it.
