This is a fun and nice-looking hack and slash game from Square, it’s a refresh of the older Valkyrie Profile games except now in a more modern, 3D style. I have enjoyed playing through it but it can get a little repetitive. I would say the same thing of Diablo III and everyone loves that game. I think some of the reviews on this game (from the critics) was a little unfair, there is still a slight shortage of games on the new consoles, so we shouldn’t trash the good new ones that we are getting that aren’t just remasters or remakes. ... show more

I was a little hesitant about VP making a comeback with the new action style gameplay. But really glad I picked this up. Combat is super fluid and fun and hoping this is the start of more VP games to come.

It's homage to valkyrie 1 & 2. It has some features from the old games but it's new and beautiful. The voice acting is good too. In stages the characters repeat some conversations but they could be trigger by location. Other than Sony being losers. Squareenix has a classic with this game. The game showed a bit of promise at the start, but nothing in the combat really changed other than unlocking a few combos. The story was pretty bland and during cutscenes and dialogue, the lip movement was way off from when characters were speaking. Such a huge disappointment! Square Enix has turned Valkyrie Profile into a simple hack-and-slash action game -- very similar to Drug on Dragoon. There is no depth in the storyline. Although the game theme is to save the world, there is almost no one exists in the world... Not enough stories of the spiritual growth and absolution of the Einherjars. Characters are interesting or unique. There is no intricate puzzle element in the maps -- for which the series is well-known. All the fun & unique components that characterized the series are not there. As in many other recent SE games -- stunning, beautiful graphics but content wise, it's not much of a game (you can probably clear all endings within 70 hours -- easy mode)... ... show more
