The spring on my Delta DP300 broke suddenly and so I went looking for a replacement. This part works great. No numbers on the springs so it's hard to find the right part, but after measuring dimensions this seemed like it would work. I'd never done this repair before, and encountered one potential issue: the spring as shipped is under considerable tension. You need to get the spring into the holder BEFORE releasing the tension by untwisting the wire it's bound with. This was the most effective recoil spring I’ve ever purchased. It recoiled my drill press incredibly well. I was concerned that I would never be able to get my drill to recoil the way it did when I was younger and the mere thought of drilling would cause it to recoil, but this replacement spring fixed all of that! After trying to find a cost effective replacement for my Delta Bench Drill Press, and not finding something to my satisfaction, I got this item by following another Amazon review of same product. Great replacement. You just have to be very careful installing it, since it is a serious spring and can snap on you if you install it improperly.     • Get the right size
I didnt do much research to figure out what size i needed and when I received it, the spring was a lot shorter than the one in my 15" craftsman floor drill. I was able to put this in and wind it up enough to work but I anticipate it will fail sooner due to having a greater amount of stress.
