  • What the f-uuq, have some fun
I have this on an AR-10 ,308. its surviving recoil and holding zero...for now at least. Your airsoft pea shooter doesnt need 10x magnification. Uuq makes decent stuff for cheap. Get waht you pay for though. If you use it like 3 times a year for fun its cool. I wouldnt use it to hunt or anything. But for ringing steel and eardrums its fine. ... show more

  • Tons of features
Right out of the box, this scope feels pretty substantial. The all metal construction coupled with the weight of the glass inside give the impression of a decent piece of optics. The included CR2 photo battery installs into a compartment just under the laser. This compartment has a lot of fine threads to ensure a water and air tight seal. This CR2 powers both the laser and the reticle illumination. Normally, “IR” in a model number would tend to indicate “Infra-Red” but, in this case, the “IR” in the model number 2.5-10x40IR stands for “Illuminated Reticle”. I knew this going in, but thought it was worth mentioning to eliminate possible confusion for someone. I have never had a magnifying scope with a laser sight before and found this to be very interesting. I always thought that lasers on rifles were more of a novelty, like the ubiquitous Hollywood scene where all of the operators put red dots on the target to show they mean “business”. But now maybe I can see some fun possibilities. At the low mag setting (2.5) I can see where it might be helpful for target acquisition. I still prefer to use the reticle, though, to determine point of impact. Besides the laser is easily turned off with the push of a button. Speaking of the reticles, since the Army I really like mil dot reticles for their quick ranging capabilities and windage holds. I am not sure how accurate the mils are on these dots but for shorter (sub 100yd) ranges of a typical battle rifle I think they might be useful. I like the adjustable reticle illumination on this scope. It does tend to light up the interior of the scope tube, especially at higher settings, but in low light it sure is nice to be able to make out the reticle and you don’t really need much to resolve it in those conditions. The magnification is changed through turning barrel forward of the eyepiece, which has the focus. I foresee keeping it on 2.5x most of the time. The included lens covers are nice touch. One of my first purchases after getting a new scope is a pair of flip up lens covers and these seam to be decent quality. The mount is very solid and fits a standard picatinny style rail which attaches to my flat top AR just fine. The zeroing adjustments are made with the dials housed under the threaded caps on the top and side like most any other scope. The unusual (at least to me) thing about this one is the adjustment interface on the dial. Instead of the old, flat, screw head style that a coin fits into, this one has a straight plastic handle (The best word I can come up with) which does have a slot in the middle (see photo). You can make the adjustments (Quarter mil clicks) with your fingers or use a tool. This makes the zeroing and/or adjusting process a ton easier since you can almost treat it the same as having turrets. You can feel each “click” with your fingers without having to take your eye from the scope. Very awesome! I think this is a nice little scope. ... show more

  • Clear optics, excellent for mid-range shooting, built-in laser, illuminated, mil-dot FTW!
I have zero experience with this optics from this brand, so I was hesitant while ordering it. But because I've used other products from UUQ, like their exceptional heavy-duty bipod, I decided to take a chance and I wasn't disappointed. It has a standard simple mil-dot reticle, nothing fancy about it except the fact that it has a built-in laser sight. The scope is nitrogen purged and fog proof, but I did not expect otherwise. Right after taking it out of its box I've noticed that it's pretty heavy, but I think that's ultimately a tribute to its solid construction. It's a high quality, very well purpose-built scope that will serve you well. Magnification can be easily adjusted between 2.5x and 10x by turning the ring located on the eyepiece side but it's missing a throw lever that I like to use instead of the ring. Focus adjustment is also available on the eyepiece's end of the scope, which is great, I hate it when the scope does not have such a simple feature (Russian scopes usually do not have it for some reason). Focus and magnification rings move smoothly, which tells a lot about the build quality of the scope, though the magnification ring is a bit stiff. Eye relief falls short and is not to my liking, I'd prefer a longer eye relief with more room for positioning. Windage and elevation turrets are large and covered with screw caps that prevent accidental change of turret position once adjusted. Unfortunately, there is no zero stop feature on this scope. I like the turret adjustment - I can feel and hear distinct "clicks" when I adjust it and turrets have practically no play at selected positions. The scope is illuminated in red color only. I normally do not even consider a scope that does not have illumination because it greatly limits its usability, especially in dusk and nighttime. The scope has clear optics, I did not notice distortions even at 10x magnification (check out my photos), which is great. The mil-dot cross reticle is etched on the glass and is very sharp. Note that illumination lights up the whole reticle, which is great because other scopes with mil-dot reticles I've used only illuminate the central dot. There is no traditional brightness knob on this scope, it uses electronically controlled illumination and a laser with buttons on the top of the scope. To turn on illumination or change its brightness, you just press the UP/DOWN buttons. And yes, it has a laser unit on its left side! The laser is fully integrated with the scope, uses the same power supply as illumination (CR2 high-capacity battery!) and its controls are integrated in the scope as well. To turn on or off the laser you just press the button on the top control panel of the scope. End-to-end, this looks like a very well done and fully integrated scope + laser combo. It is much better done than other combo setups when the manufacturer simply screws on a laser unit to a scope, which runs from a separate power source and has on controls. The scope comes with a single-piece integrated Picatinny mount, which is not that bad, but not good either. I noticed that cheaper scopes usually of low quality include rings that I always throw away or give away and buy a new set of quality rings that might cost you as much as the scope itself. This time I don't have the luxury of changing the mount for something more reliable and higher quality, it is what it is. But as I said, it's not that bad. Pro-tip. Because the scope's reticle is fairly simple and does not provide much elevation or windage adjustments, your best bet for zeroing it is to use a laser bore sighter. Just insert it into your barrel and zero your scope's crosshair on its dot. Then on a range you can finish fine-tuning your aim at 10x magnification according to the manufacturer's guidelines. This will save you tons of ammo. *** TL;DR *** Yes, I do recommend this scope to every gun enthusiast. It has quite clear optics, magnification from 2.5x to 10x. Eye relief fells short, but still good enough. The reticle is a simple yet highly effective mil-dot, which I like very much for its simplicity and universal applicability. All adjustments work fine. Plus, it has red reticle illumination and a fully integrated laser unit with digital controls. Also, it uses a common power source in the form of a high-capacity CR2 battery that provides long runtime for both the laser and reticle illumination. The main thing I don't really like is that it's SFP scope, not FFP, and the fact that the Picatinny mount can't be changed. But otherwise, it's a good scope. I guess I'll go with a 4-star rating on this one. +++ Pros +++ 1) Very well built. 2) Very compact for its magnification. 3) Variable magnification from 2.5x to 10x. 4) Reticle is illuminated (red only). 5) Has built-in laser sight. 6) Unique digital laser and illum. controls. 7) Turrets have caps for protection. 8) Easy to use mil-dot reticle. 9) Comes with nice lens caps. 10) Very compact for its class. --- Cons --- 1) It's SFP, I prefer FFP. 2) No parallax correction. 3) Eye relief falls short. 4) Turrets do not have zero-stop. 5) Rail mount can't be changed. ... show more
