Description

The lightweight and compact TekFire LED Fuel-Free Lighter allows for quick and easy fire starting and features a bright LED light. Windproof, flameless, and electronic, it requires no butane fuel or adjustments for altitude. The included ParaTinder™ wrist lanyard can be unwound for about 3 feet of all- purpose paracord with an added single tinder thread. The lighter also comes with a USB cord for easy recharging from any USB port. NOTE: Only ignite the inner red core strand of ParaTinder. Do not ignite white inner core strands or outer colored jacket. These can melt plastic residue on electrodes blocking the electrical arc and prevent the lighter from working. TO CLEAR RESIDUE FROM ELECTRODES: Use a wooden toothpick or plastic knife to gently scrape clear. To avoid electric shock or burn, DO NOT push the electric arc button on while cleaning. This is a very cool little device! Works great when you are backpacking and have to travel light (just pack some tender). I'd say it's meant more for that than for a apocalyptic, survival situation since it has to be plugged in to charge or you'll need some type of hand crank generator.

White the electric flame is decent though not perfect i think this is a neat little gadget for my bag Can fit about the end of a cigarette between the arc.

    • Worked First Charge, Never Again
I bought this lighter in November 2018. When I received it, I charged it and it immediately worked and I thought it was a cool little tool. In the 2.5 years since, it's proven not to be. It went from sparking (on the lighter end) and shining (on the flashlight end) after that first charge to being put away for a couple months and then never again sparking or shining. I've tried to charge and use it periodically since then, most recently today. Today, the red charging light came on while I plugged it in, but the lighter just got warm / hot to the touch and never even pretended to work. Same as it's done every time since that first. This is a piece of junk novelty. I wouldn't rely on this thing to light a candle in my house or a fire in my backyard, let alone go camping with it or rely on it in an emergency. Do yourself a favor: buy a bunch of matches instead. ... show more

    • Awesome little tool
So far I’ve only used this product playing around and testing it. It does light just about anything fairly easily. Paper, cotton balls, and even some tinder like the paratinder will literally light in a split second. You can tap a piece of paper with the arc and you have fire. The light works very well and in an emergency it’ll be better than not having anything. With it being so small you could easily throw it in a backpack for emergencies. Now if you plan on carrying this everyday as an edc light I would suggest removing the paratinder because that does add some bulk to it. Without the Paracord it is very compact. Overall it’s a cool little product that could come in handy. If I experience any problems with the battery or if it stops working I’ll update this review. ... show more

    • No practical advantages
Used it snow camping. Was able to start a fire, but it's less practical than just a Ferro rod. The flashlight is nice and bright but again not practical because it needs to be charged.

    • Defeat the purpose of a lighter
It worked fine until I accidentally touched the lighter part and it went out, the 10 second off and on was annoying than useful
