  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Charge Supply
Bought this to charge my phone via port extender when had keyboard / mouse / monitor / ethernet / SD Card reader at my desk in the service shop. Then I read that it was not intended to be used over 77F or something. Brought it back home, and bought an industrial USB supply to do the same thing but with a much wider temperature range. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great all-in-one charger for bedside or traveling (but read the full title)
I've used an Anker PowerPort 5 for bedside charging for over 5 years which never once failed me (the only problem I ever had with it was a tendency for coil whine when I was charging multiple power-hungry devices off of it), which has worked fantastically; it's probably still a better deal if you just need a lot of USB ports. However, I've personally found that the lack of USB-C to C charging was a pretty major annoyance- my phone charged slowly relative to the quick charge wallwort it came bundled with, and I had to drag along a wall adapter if I wanted to use my laptop or Nintendo Switch in bed. First of all, while this wasn't an issue for me personally, the product title is a bit deceptive if you don't see the entire thing- this is a 45W USB-C charger that can also deliver up to 20W over the USB-A ports; this is more than enough for a Macbook Air and a couple of other devices simultaneously, but probably will not be able to keep a more powerful laptop going under intensive tasks. My initial impressions of a refurb unit I purchased from AnkerDirect are all very positive- the carbon fiber-y finish on the plastic is reasonably nice to the touch with only a bit of dust and packaging grime to distinguish it from a new item, the cable is a decent length and comes with a cable tie, and the ports seem snug (one nitpick is the USB-A ports being upside-down, but I assume this is a size concession). The only real annoyance I have is a blue power indicator LED on the top, but the fact the unit is flat and square means it's easy to put something on top of it to free up night-stand space. The charger does report correctly to my Macbook Air as a 45W unit and rapid charges my phone without an issue- the USB-A ports are for stuff that it's hard to tell how quickly it's charging anyways. It also may skid around if you're liable to pull on the cable too much, as the tiny rubber feet seem to have been an afterthought for the "travel oriented" design. The use of a cable rather than a integrated plug does conveniently mean that it's easier to replace and will work with a surge protector a lot better than your typical laptop plug. While $50 is steep for something that is definitionally "just a charger," Anker seems to have sales and used/refurbed units listed fairly often- mine at $35 was about the cost of an Apple MBA charging brick by itself. I'm very happy with my purchase at this price; while you could find something cheaper, Anker is consistently very good about standards compliance and not frying your electronics in my experience. Not everyone needs this, but it's a great product if you do. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Charges iPad Pro fully in 2 hours
It seems the iPad Pro discharges from normal use faster than it charges with a low power charger. The Anker 65W charger, however, will take the iPad from 0-100% in under two hours. I love it. The 40W charger is cheaper and also works well, but not quite as fast.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Adding Power Ports by a Desk
The price is a bit high, but this is an uncommon shape: power cord instead of integrated plug, and a flat shape. The power distribution can be good or bad. I have one PD wireless charger plus a few 5V items like lights, charge cord for earbuds or camera, and another for a bluetooth speaker. This has basically two totally independent chargers in it: PD 45W, and a 5V 3A with three shared outlets. So the little 5V loads don’t disturb the PD device. Physically, it fits perfectly glued under a shelf with external drives. I can now use the ports on one of those for real usb data devices and never have to plug or unplug things. They do make one with dual PD and two 5V ports. Costlier, but could be better if you have more modern higher power loads. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Great, low profile charger!
Stuck to the underside of my desk with the included adhesive, and it hasn't moved an inch, despite me plugging things in and unplugging them regularly. The USB-C port charges the fastest at 45W, which is enough to power up my Steam Deck. The USB-A ports offer 20W total - I've primarily been using these for my iPad, and lower power devices that don't need to take up the USB-C port (and for the things I have that don't have USB-C capabilities, of course). I do sometimes with I'd gotten the version with two USB-C ports, but I'm still happy with this one. Very convenient to be able to plug in what I need to charge without having to crawl under my desk to get chargers into the power strip down there. ... show more
