Since almost all modern computers (at least those that we mortals can afford) ship with only a 1Gb network port (if indeed it has anything other than wifi), this is a great upgrade if you can use the speed. While my internet is only 300mb (more than enough for almost anyone), I do have a home server that I use for file storage; using this adapter (combined with a 2.5 Gb network switch) for connecting to my network makes file transfers much faster. It's pretty much plug-and-play with Windows and also worked with Debian Linux. The overall quality seems good, and it gets warm, but not hot (which is to be expected). Connectivity has also been good with other networks that I've tried including my work network. At a price of $15 as of this writing, it is a real bargain. ... show more

Works great with a normal USB 3.0 port in a few different computers that I tested with. Make sure to enable jumbo frames to get the best speeds. Great value, easily connects to Windows 11. I have not had a chance to test this on a Windows 11 laptop or to push it past 1Ghz bandwidth. Will have to update with those results later. Windows did pick this device up on it's own so no extra work has been needed to get it working. For now this had been a great addition to my tools. Especially where a system is landlocked with a single either net jack. I know some newer laptops don't even have 1 jack. So everything works as a USB addon. I use it to have access to a second port as needed for isolated internal network. This can be useful in all sorts of ways. Obviously if your internal network poor has failed this is a great alternative as well. Likely to exceed anything at all you might ever need. At least for a typical user. This is a True USB3.0 jack so, I strongly recommend you only use this on a USB3.0 or later. But it will also work fine on a USB2.0 port. Your limit on 2.0 I assume is the max bandwit6h that 3.0 can easily exceed. Though I don't have an easy test for this just yet. My one complaint. They used a aluminum tube body. I am sure this helps make it crush resistant, probably helps remove heat when its running full speed, and simplifies assembly. But the edges are sharper then they need to be. It would take very lite to tumble these parts before assembly thus removing the sharp edges. No it's not knife sharp, but its a clean hard 90 deg angel without bevel. Pros: works on both USB 2.0 and 3.0 jacks, recognized by windows and drivers were installed automatically, durable cable, crush resistant body. Cons: Hurd metal body has sharp blunt edges, Few networks exceed 1Gb at this time so its hard to test, Would I recommend this as an alternative network jack, yes. ... show more

This appears to be a very good quality USB-C to Ethernet adapter with a speed of 2.5Gbps. The housing is solid metal so it should be able to take tossing around in a travel bag no problem. I tested by transferring a large amount of data to and from the PC that I connected it to. I found the connections to be rock solid with never a glitch and saw no loss in speed compared to an adapter built onto a motherboard or installed in a PCIe slot on a desktop. I even repeated my tests with the adapter plugged into a USB hub rather than directly into the computer and found no loss in performance or reliability. Finally, I tested on two other machines, and it worked flawlessly on every system. An adapter like this is something that every bag of computer tools should have. There are many thin laptops these days that have no Ethernet adapter, so you'll be glad to have one of these on hand when you suddenly need an Ethernet connection. This is also a super easy way to upgrade to a faster adapter on a desktop without having to open up the system and add an expansion card. It's also super easy to remove if you are just using it temporarily or for testing. At the price, I would definitely consider this over a 1Gbps adapter especially since it is fully compatible with slower speed networks such as 1Gbps. ... show more

First off .. I am not your normal Vine reviewer, I have alot of PC / Networking expertise , so this is not a bad review that is user error. My home network is Unifi Ubiquiti, with all the goodies, AP, PoE Switches , 2.5gbe RJ45 , even some Fiber. all my Networks are on their own Vlans. I run home NAS, Many VMs, Ran all the cat6 line threw the walls my self .. even ran cat 5 20+ years ago .. pre- cat5e... Point is I am tryn to make is ... this is not user error. This USB to RJ45 2.5Gbe NIC did not work .. cant give something a good review that did not work. Tried it both on my main rig and my Sever ... it will show up , start to work and drops .. i used Another USB 2.5gbe NIC .. to test if it was my side .. they worked. the pic is of it in the trash ... show more
