  • Easy to set up
Color: a-Black 12 Pods
I have been doing hydroponics for years. I have a much larger one but these smaller ones allow me to start seedlings indoors and then transfer to my larger system. This unit from URUQ was very easy to set up. I did soak the seeds and the seed pods and have growth a day after planting the seeds. My only concern is with the warranty. I couldn't find any info on how long of a warranty this particular unit has but so far everything is working as expected. Great value for the money. ... show more

  • Super simple set up. Don't forget to check PH
Color: b-White 12 Pods
I received today and set it up in 5 min. Super simple and super quiet. Don't even hear the pump. It's a nice size and sits perfectly on my counter top. I'm really excited to have my herbs and salads right at my fingertips. I'll add more pics once they sprout. EDIT. One thing they do not mention is PH with this kit. After I added the minerals, I tested the ph and it was really high. The thing with hydro gardens is you have to monitor the ph. PH should be between 5.5 and 6.5 so I recommend getting a ph kit that includes ph+, ph- and ph test drops. Hope this helps everyone. ... show more

  • Move Your "Doomsday Garden" Indoors!
Color: b-White 12 Pods
This may come off as a very hyperbolic review, but we have not been this absolutely delighted with a product in a very long time. We've always dabbled in gardening, or as much as we could given full-time jobs and 2 young kids. Very few springs and summers have gone by without us growing something edible. Some seasons are better than others. We've had bumper crops of tomatoes, zucchini, peppers, and beans, and some years we're lucky if we get 2-3 pieces of fruit off each plant. We got a bit more zealous about it at the beginning of the pandemic, because that was just a scary time and a whole lot of "what ifs" were running through our heads. My husband went nuts and tilled up 1/3 of our not tiny backyard. That was a good garden year, as we were all home all the time to take care of it. Things got less fruitful after that. Lately I've been really frustrated by the produce at our local store; I can't find fresh basil and cilantro to save my life, and often lettuce and spinach are brown and slimy. I was threatening to start a window-sill garden when this beautiful thing came along. I cannot stress how absolutely fantastic this is. For starters, it comes with absolutely everything you need to start growing stuff other than the seeds for the stuff itself. You get little sponge cones to use as a growth medium, fertilizers, labels, little covers.... The unit itself is absolutely silent, and it is efficient. We've had ours up and running for about 3 weeks now, and I don't think we've had to add much water (my husband sometimes does stuff like that when I'm not looking, though, so I can't swear to that). One thing to make note of: this thing is BRIGHT, so be mindful of where you place it. We have an axolotl, and they don't like bright lights. We actually had to shift this grower as it was casting too much light toward the critter's tank. We've already had so much luck and fun with this. We did NOT soak the seeds before-hand, but everything but my cilantro grew anyway. We have giant tomatoes that we've already had to repot, several big beautiful basil plants, and my glob the lettuce!! In less than 2 weeks we had enough to harvest, and if you just cut the leaves above the roots, it grows back. We're about to get another family-sized salad out of this. It's fantastic! This makes it so easy and cool to grow our own food (and yes, I'm sure flowers would also be fun). My husband is now researching hydroponic DIY projects, as he wants to go "full scale" in the spring. Heaven help me. In the meantime, we are getting so much enjoyment and nourishment out of this. I really cannot recommend this enough. ... show more

  • Nice Hydroponic Garden but Not for Beginners
Color: a-Black 12 Pods
This is a nice hydroponic garden, but not for beginners. This is the fourth hydroponic setup that I have owned over the years. My other three have been leading brand fully automated setups. I currently have three up and running, including this one. I chose this one as I wanted one with a large number of pods for growing romaine lettuce. Lettuce sprouts very quickly and grows just as fast. That has not been the case with this system. Sprouting took three times as long and the first full sprouts looked rather sickly. I had followed the directions which state that you should not add any fertilizer until after they sprout. My other gardens have you add a reduced amount of fertilizer from the beginning. When I first saw the plants emerge, I pivoted and added the fertilizer, but avoided the stuff that came with it and went straight for my leading brand. That made all of the difference. This being said, I do really like this garden. It is aesthetically pleasing, has a tilt head grow light which is novel and incredibly convenient (5-star design), and it has a lot of pods in a smaller than usual footprint. The water level is easily visible and easy to refill. The lights are automated on and off, but there is no way to set a start time, other than when you initially start it up, so if you have a power outage or need to move the garden you are stuck with waiting to press the planting button at your designated start time. There is no alert system to tell you when to add fertilizer, you are supposed to just mix it in with water refills. No alert for changing the water either. The instructions tell you to change it only if it looks like it needs it. There is definitely a learning curve to using this system, which is why I don't recommend it for beginners, but for those with more experience, the novel features, major cost savings, and extra pods make this a nice buy. I will try to update with more tips as I continue to learn and adjust to the new hydroponic setup. In the meanwhile, I am happy that I got the opportunity to try out this little gem and I will put it to good use. Fun project. Update: I have now synched this with my other gardens for fertilizer every two weeks and a water change once a month. I am now able to make use of the alerts from my automated gardens and it is working out well. The cheap plastic syphon pump that I use for my other gardens fits nicely in the hole that is used to add water on the top of the unit. The biggest reason for this update though is a major positive observation. I have now been able to start harvesting the outer leaves of the young Romaine lettuce plants and was shocked at the flavor. Even though I am using the same fertilizer and seeds that I have used in other gardens in the past these leaves taste better, more flavorful. I am guessing that it has something to do with the light system. After all, that is what sets this system apart from the others. I am thrilled. ... show more
