    • Removes hard water scale
It works as advertised. I used it in my combination coffee/espresso machine and it cleaned it right out. The espresso side was so clogged it wouldn’t even pass water through it. After using the citric acid it cleaned it out within about 30 minutes. My machine works again and it has even improved the taste of the coffee by removing the calcium build up.     • It is not Urnex "Full Circle" descaler
The listing says that this is Urnex Full Circle descaler. However, it seems to me that is not correct because it is not from the "Full Circle" line. All Urnex products in the Full Circle line, which I believe is their top of the line products, have the words "Full Circle" on the package. This package does not say it is Full Circle. Normally, when I descale with an Urnex Full Circle descaler, the water coming out of my expresso machine is blue, due to the acid in the descaler reacting with the mineral deposits in the boiler. With this product, the water came out as clear as tap water. It seems to me that this descaler was likely not effective at descaling. I would buy from another source and make sure it says, "Full Circle" on the package. ... show more

I bought this on suggestion from the included filter pack that came with my coffee maker. I recently was looking at cleaning instructions for the thermal carafe and noticed their site recommended -against- using citric acid to clean this machine. I then got this recommendation from Technivorm's customer support: "It's okay if you used this a few times, we recommend Urnex's Dezcal descaling powder for future use" Something about the amount of citric acid in dezcal is less? ... show more

Product itself is fine. Absolutely no complaints. Tho, in a perfect world, since effectively mandated to keep Bonavita coffee maker in working order, I’d wish less costly. IOW, curious situation, spending $5.40 per packet, i.e., per month, for basic maintenance; whereas, at that rate, it wouldn’t take that long just to buy a new coffee maker. ... show more
