  • good straight edge
when you first get it, i was like what is this lol. the box looked too small, but once you take it out, it's fine. It worked on my tele clone "FGN" iliad. Anyways, it's very light, aluminum construction which is nice. You worry you might bend it but should be fine if you hang it someplace, as there is a hole on one side to hang on a workbench. One side is just the flat straight, the other side is notched which fit on the 1st through the 21st fret so basically i could see that there was no bend in the neck, which is all i wanted it for. So it works. ... show more

  • Why spend more?
It's a piece of steel with notches in it. It's straight. It allowed my to adjust my truss rod perfectly, what else do you need? Highly recommended.

  • Very nice! Well packaged and has decent weight to it
This thing I have not have a problem with it yet very sturdy It would take some muscle to bend it gives some pretty accurate readings I'm happy with it

  • Decent tool for the price
Its a decent neck relief gauge especially for the price. It doesnt feel cheap or look cheap. Its straight and level; it works as you would expect. One or two of the little notches are a touch short of the others but it is so minimal that it doesnt impact accuracy. If you are looking to get down to an exact millimeter of relief - this is not the tool for you and at less than $20, it shouldnt be. Its also a little sharp on the edges, but not in a way that it will damage my guitar and not anything I will address. I used it against all my guitar necks and checked it against a guitar that I just got back from a luthier and its as accurate as I need it to be. If you tinker like I do, this is perfect. If guitar setups are a job for you, I would go with a more expensive name brand tool. They are bigger in size, likely accurate to a millimeter or more, and contain multiple scale/fret board accommodations. ... show more

  • Not too shabby for the price, etc...
I've used the one I got on two guitars and two fret jobs. One was an Epiphone Les Paul Custom and the other a Donner Telecaster copy. The one I received seems straight. Both fret jobs came out ok, etc. Is it the best notched straight edge money can buy? Probably not, but if you get a good one I'd say it'll do the job for the most of us not doing it for a living type thing. ... show more

  • Dinky, but worth its cost
I settled on this tool after sifting through other economy grade fretboard leveling tools. You definitely get what you pay for. First impression was that it’s so small, shorter than I imagine (about 1”) and about twice as thick as an aluminum ruler. It doesn’t stand on its own so you have to hold it with one hand while you make truss adjustments with the other. I have no way to determine if it is 100% straight, but it is soft enough material that it can be bent sideways with little effort, I’m sure it can be bend up or down if it took a heavy fall or something. It does sit flat top and bottom on my laminate board work table. I’m satisfied with this tool for the cost, I’m not sure how the $85 tools stack up but I’m happy enough with this economy version. ... show more
