I was looking for a compact UV umbrella to replace one I bought abroad and loved but subsequently lost. This one is perfect. It is small, light, and could fit in a large front shorts pocket sticking out a bit. It is made for one person. So if you’re looking for an umbrella that covers more than just yourself, move on. I’ve used it daily for my walks in the islands and it is sturdy and provides UV shade from the sun, which cuts the heat you would feel without it. So at minimum it provides a couple degrees cooler temps under it, if not more. It is not for use in windy weather. It will flip inside out. So don’t plan on using it in windy locations/circumstances. One positive, though, when it flips inside out from wind or otherwise, you just press the open/close button and it collapses itself back to its “ready to close” position. This possibly takes the pressure off from needing to force flip it right side up over and over again, which is good. It would keep the rain off your head but that’s about it. But again, I bought it to keep me cool during my daily walks in hot sunny conditions. I use it on cloudy days as well, to keep the UV rays off me. In all, it’s perfect to use on sunny days for walks to cut the heat. It would help in a sudden downpour or steady light drizzle to keep your head dry. If you’re looking for an umbrella for the same reasons as me, this is the one. I will update my review if the umbrella breaks or deteriorates significantly.

I live in the Middle East and with the temperatures and daily sun this umbrella keeps me from overheating when I walk to the gym and back. Despite the light structure it’s pretty sturdy. I just wish the top was black as the silver stands out a bit much to my liking

Purchased this for an upcoming trip that will require being in the desert sun. But first used it in the broiling heat and humidity for an outdoor HOA meeting (in late July!). It pops open easily, provided great sun protection, and looks nice. It is compact, so excellent for travel. I do have to wrestle with it just a bit to get it closed, but once it locks back in place it’s easy to return to its sleeve.

I just received my umbrella and put it to test by holding it up against a large window where the sun was directly glaring into it. I opened it up and placed the umbrella fabric a few inches away from the glass. I was pleasantly surprised to see that no sun came through the fabric. I then held it up to the window where half the umbrella was in direct sunlight and the other half protected by the adjoining wall. There was absolutely no difference. I couldn't see any light coming through on either half. The instructions are on the hang tag attached to the handle. I like that the umbrella closes up by pushing the button in the same way one presses it to open it up. The only difference is that you have to the push the stem down towards the handle to latch it closed. It was easy enough to do and better than the complete manual process of less quality ones I have owned in the past. Once it latched, I gently pulled out the folds and was able to return it to the same neat way it arrived with the attached velcro strap. The sleeve is nice in that the closed umbrella slides easily into it and fits nicely. No skimping on the fabric and struggling to get it back in like another one I used own. The only improvement I would make might be a snap to keep the sleeve in place, but that isn't a deal breaker by any means. Highly recommend. All in all, this is a product I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to protect themselves from the sun during this record breaking summer heat. I will be buying another one of the same in different colors to share with family.

We took this to Egypt in the summer. Many of the sites are in desert areas with little to no shade. Other people had regular umbrellas and the sun was still pouring through. This one blocked the sun so well it was like standing under a shade tree. It was durable - once blew inside out and with just a push resumed it's umbrella shape. One of our guides stood under it with me and copied the brand information to buy for using on tours. Worth every penny we spent

This umbrella is fantastic at blocking heat of sun and harmful rays. It is very compact and easy to open and close. Paid twice as much for another one which ended up not being able to close after a few years. I highly recommend this item. Hopefully it will out last the expensive one I purchased which quit working.
