I finally have a product that works with all my drives from hard drives to laptops that will download computer items going back to 1999. I have tried others, and they just don't work. This is solid, works wonderfully, is compatible with so many drives, and uses plug and play. It fits all types of drivers. The build quality is amazing, the fit is magnificent, and it's so easy to use. The noise level is low; I can listen to music while doing this. It barely gets warm, nothing hot. I have a desktop computer drive packed away somewhere in the garage. I will find it this weekend. This device is beyond belief. The price point can't be beat. I didn't even know if it was going to work, it did, and it did so quickly. I found a lot of pictures and so many songs it wasn't even imaginable. I love it! ... show more

This is a simple SATA to USB adapter, which works fine with SATA optical (blu-ray, dvd) drives. Not all SATA to USB adapters seem to work with optical drives, so this is one of a few that actually advertises as being compatible with optical drives. The USB cable is detachable, which is good. However, while the PC-end is USB-A (3.0), the adapter end of the cable is not standard USB. Since the cable is rather short, it's not easy to find a longer cable if you want more reach. This was not a big deal for me. The power adapter is a universal voltage 12V/2A adapter, with a reasonably long cable. The SATA connector is of average quality, so I'd not recommend pulling it out and reconnecting very often. Overall, the adapter works well for the price point, and one of the few being advertised as being compatible with optical drives. ... show more

    • Works Perfectly Connecting a SATA Blue-ray Drive to a Mac

Saved me a ton of time. Well, almost. I tried for hours to install MakeMKV into my TrueNAS Scale computer. I had NO luck getting that software to properly recognize the internal Bluray (BD) drive. I finally came across this little device (aside from the AC adapter, it's tiny). I used it to connect that BD drive to my Mac via USB-A. MakeMKV immediately recognized the drive and now it is working perfectly on my Mac. I wish I had gone this route from the start. It works great!!! ... show more

    • A fantastic device at a great price -- plug & play at it's best

This great little device was incredibly simple to use - literally plug-n-play. I had an HP laptop fail to power up after 8 years [imagine-an antique] and luckily I had always backed up on a Seagate external drive...that was also many years old. I fell into the bad habit of using the Seagate to access old stuff from the new Acer laptop....until the Seagate crashed. Unrecoverable. I still had the old HP and had the idea that the hard drive could still be good since the failure was a power issue. SO...I invested in this adapter and plugged in the old hard drive that I removed from the HP carcass. BNGO - everything was still there: all the documents, photos and other files that I was certain were lost forever. Now that old drive is backed up on a higher end SanDisk drive and a cloud backup is pending. This device comes with it's own power supply and brief instructions - which are all you need. Not everyone will have the same good fortune that I did, but for the price this adapter / reader was an incredible value. ... show more
