  • A Clever Solution for the Puzzling World of Data
Color: USB A
The Unitek SATA/IDE to USB 3.0 Adapter is a device that approaches the often-confounding world of data transfer with the precision and cunning of a master sleuth. It deftly bridges older drives and modern systems, allowing one to access files that might otherwise remain locked away in mystery. Setup is straightforward, and the adapter performs reliably, ensuring that documents, photos, and archives can be examined with ease and confidence. What is most commendable is its versatility. Both SATA and IDE drives find a welcoming interface, and the USB 3.0 connection delivers impressive speed without complication. In a realm where lost or inaccessible data can feel like an unsolved case, this adapter proves indispensable, bringing clarity and resolution to otherwise puzzling situations. Five stars for a tool that combines ingenuity, reliability, and practical elegance. ... show more

Works as advertised. I had a few hard drives from old laptops that I was able to retrieve files from. Drives were out of Windows based platforms and recovered onto an Apple PowerBook. 2 drives were IDE and 1 SATA. Great tool and worth the money!

  • GRADE: A+
Color: USB A
I finally have a product that works with all my drives from hard drives to laptops that will download computer items going back to 1999. I have tried others, and they just don't work. This is solid, works wonderfully, is compatible with so many drives, and uses plug and play. It fits all types of drivers. The build quality is amazing, the fit is magnificent, and it's so easy to use. The noise level is low; I can listen to music while doing this. It barely gets warm, nothing hot. I have a desktop computer drive packed away somewhere in the garage. I will find it this weekend. This device is beyond belief. The price point can't be beat. I didn't even know if it was going to work, it did, and it did so quickly. I found a lot of pictures and so many songs it wasn't even imaginable. I love it! ... show more

  • Great tool for anyones arsenal
Color: USA A to SATA
I received this item as scheduled new in box. The converter work great with SATA HDD/SSD drives. I also bought it for a spare internal 3.5 Blu-Ray DVD drive I have laying around and it works. However there is a fly in the ointment. If you unplug it then plug it back in it will not see the DVD drive. Apparently, it now thinks the DVD drive is a HDD and shows an unknown disk drive in Windows Disk Management and Device Manager now shows my Blu-ray drive under "Disk drives" instead of DVD/CD-ROM drives, where it was before unplugging. Only restarting the computer will sort this out. This will happen every time you unplug the DVD drive without restarting the computer; thus the 4 star rating. This is not an issue with HDD/SSD. FYI, I am using Windows 10 Home v.1511 and no longer have Win 7 to try this out on. So, I do not know if this issue is a Win 10 only thing. None the less, the product does work and is a good portable tool for my needs, and relatively inexpensive. With that said, I think they are charging too much for the IDE adapter. I guess that is due to low volume since most drives now are SATA. There are other products out there that will do both SATA/IDE but not 3.5 DVD burners. These units are usually only 5 volts and you need 12 volts for 3.5 DVD burners. ... show more

  • It just works!!
Color: USB A
Look at those old drives!! I had an older set of universal drives, USB connection kit that NEVER worked. This one DOES work!! All my old PATA, SATA, and SSD drives were recognized and searchable! It will also hookup 2.5” laptop (40 pin) drives. Good stuff!

  • Very Handy
Color: USB A
I have tried other devices to retrieve data from old hard drives and none have been easier to use and worked than this one. Works well and very easy to download lost files.

  • Works fine with Optical Drives
Color: USA A to SATA
This is a simple SATA to USB adapter, which works fine with SATA optical (blu-ray, dvd) drives. Not all SATA to USB adapters seem to work with optical drives, so this is one of a few that actually advertises as being compatible with optical drives. The USB cable is detachable, which is good. However, while the PC-end is USB-A (3.0), the adapter end of the cable is not standard USB. Since the cable is rather short, it's not easy to find a longer cable if you want more reach. This was not a big deal for me. The power adapter is a universal voltage 12V/2A adapter, with a reasonably long cable. The SATA connector is of average quality, so I'd not recommend pulling it out and reconnecting very often. Overall, the adapter works well for the price point, and one of the few being advertised as being compatible with optical drives. ... show more

  • Unitek USB 3.0 Adapter Review
Color: USA A to SATA
I needed this to be able to use my Blu-ray internal drive. I 3D printed an enclosure and used this so I could use the drive on my computer. I tested it with SATA drives and 3.5 internal hard drives as well. Definitely worth the price. Works great. If you need to access files on an old drive or you want to wipe a drive this is the easy way to do it. ... show more
