The size is appropriate (washcloth size). I don't really need twelve of them; I wish a smaller package was available. there seem to be two separate textures: one side is rougher than the other, which is nice for scrubbing. These washclothes are HORRIBLE. They shed and shed, even drying with dryer balls does not pull all the lint off. The last time I dried them I found streaky blue residue all over my dryer drum.
