I have had this phone for about 24 hours now and I don't see myself ever going back to my full sized smartphone. This can do literally everything a full sized smartphone can. But, you may not always want to, and that's kind of the point. This phone has allowed me to keep all the things I sort of "need" in my life. Ride sharing apps, google maps, mobile hotspot, email, etc. And those apps are really pretty easy to use even in this small form factor. You won't be composing big responses in your emails, or doing a ton of browsing through social media, and for some of us, that's a positive thing. But, don't be fooled. The phone is completely capable of tackling all the tasks that have kept you tied to your smartphone in the first place. Here are the pros, cons, and some tips. Pros: * First thing I noticed right away is that this cures distracted driving 100%. You won't be tempted to try to use it while driving, because it's kind of impossible. * I love the way it fits in my pocket. Yes, it DOES fit in the coin pocket perfectly! It's barely bigger than a key fob. No more white rectangle wear lines in my jeans. *It's nicely weighted. * The phone processor/ram is fast enough and it has plenty of storage for anything that you should really be wanting to do with it. * The flashlight is bright, and the cameras aren't terrible. *Full Android, play store and all. *FM radio is actually a really great app that even lets you record songs from over the airwaves to save for later. And uses NO data. *The home button is an LED that can pulse different colors to let you know about missed calls or texts. *Expandable storage and removable battery. *Headphone jack. *Built in speaker that isn't awful. Cons: *Screen resolution is low. It would be nice to have just a little more PPI to avoid the blurry or jagged letters on the tiny screen. *Battery life is not quite a full day under moderate usage. This one could also be considered a pro as part of the whole digital detox strategy. You will find yourself wanting to save the phones battery for more important tasks. *Typing is more difficult than you will be used to. I am finding ways around it, voice input, gesture keyboards, but it's still more difficult than it was on my larger phone. *The edges of the touch screen can be inaccurate. Tips: *Install a keyboard like Gboard, or Swiftkey and use gesture input. It helps a ton to swirl around to find your word rather than pinpointing the letter. I also found that Gboard worked great in landscape. This is one of the few phones that you can actually type one handed in landscape. Swiftkey did some strange things in landscape with this. *Install a launcher like nova launcher that gives you gestures from the home screen. I use the gestures in Nova to launch several apps and it saves me from having to press them. I can launch them without looking. *Go into settings, about phone, build number, and click build number repeatedly until it brings up developer options. Inside developer options enable "show visual touches". This will help to know where it's registering your touches when you are on the edge of the screen and having difficulty. *Go to settings, accessibility, and enable magnification. This comes in handy. A triple tap anywhere will magnify the screen and let you more easily tap links or other buttons. I highly recommend this phone. It's something you won't understand until you give it a try!

I just bought this. I would have bought the rugged Atom but wanted to see if this line of phone was worth it, I went cheap. IT IS! This works BETTER than my Samsung A20. I will be buying the Atom next year! The key board is so wee. I bought a stylus to use on the keyboard. This makes it easy. Buyer BEWARE, this is a MINI phone. If you have big fingers, poor vision, this phone may not be for you. This is not a toy but an actual fully functioning 4G smart phone. It does NOT have finger print recognition, but the rugged Atom does. I only use it for work right now, I don't do social media, but text a lot. I would recommend getting a back up battery source. The battery does not have a long life, especially if you use it often. I work 10+ hr shifts. If I rarely use it, it will last over 10 hrs on standby. But consistent use 4-5 hours. I bought extra batteries and a power bar. I really love this phone. Its so small., smaller than a credit card.

So I purchased this phone to fill one need - a phone to use while running. I knew that battery life would likely be an issue, so weight, battery life, features, and cost were the criteria. The 3 phones I was considering were the Jelly Pro, Atom and Palm. I own the Jelly and Palm. From a weight perspective, the Jelly Pro and the Palm would win. The Atom was 2oz heavier, but still just a bit over 4oz. The Jelly and Palm are just over 2oz, the weight of a smart watch. From a battery life perspective, the Atom would win. It likely can last over double the length of time of the other two phones. I found the Jelly and Palm seem to have about the same battery life. Note that the Jelly is the only phone with a replaceable battery. From a features perspective, it is a tie between the Palm and Atom. The Atom runs android 9.x. The palm has a much nicer screen and size (note that the Jelly and Atom and thick, which the palm is more like a downsized apple phone). The Jelly wins from a cost perspective - it is half the cost of the other two phones. That said, I run with the Jelly. I have used the palm too, but I tend to go back to the Jelly. The battery life is poor, but good enough for my running needs. I get about 10% battery loss an hour with GPS and tracking apps (life360, google maps, garmin livetrack) on. Assuming a 5% startup loss, the phone will last through a marathon (most marathons have a 6 hour limit). This obviously won't work for an ultra (unless you put the phone on airplane mode except when you need it). I don't stream music from the phone, so I can't tell you how much more battery loss this will incur. For individuals trying to stream video or constantly using the phone, I see a 1% loss per minute on battery. This phone is not viable if you are a constant phone user without a battery pack. Additionally, the other concern might be the screen and camera. The screen is fine from a visibility perspective, but touches aren't always registered the first time. The camera is nothing to write home about. I have been pretty happy with the phone for my use case. My 4 stars is based on usage as a running/activity/exercise phone. It would not be my 1st choice as a primary phone. I would probably rate it as 2 if you were trying to use it as a primary. If you really need a small primary phone, I would look to the Iphone SE (1st version). It has a 4 inch screen and weighs just over 4 oz. It is hard to find new at this point, but the battery life/screen/camera are better than the choices here. You can get a renewed version that is competitive with the Jelly. That said, my instance had battery issues (came with 85% battery and would drop charge to 15% rapidly). I had to return the phone.

Phone is magnific and does everything very fine. The only thing not good is the battery life. It lasts between 10 and 11 hours on stand by. It is not using the phone at all I only got between 10 or 11 hours. This phone works wonderfully on everything, but the battery. It is sad for me because I already spent few months looking for a real functional small phone. Even ther price is good.

Since the iconic iPhone 3 came out, iPhones have been my choice, for all the Apple reasons: big screen, big typewriter keys, ease of use, long life battery. And for exactly the same reasons, my brother has always been a Droid guy. Hmmm... But those Apple/Droid features only came in a large and heavy package. Now that I'm retired I don't want big and heavy with lots of features you need when you're employed, I want small and light and I don't really care about the features. The Jelly is essentially a very small and very light TELEPHONE (what a concept!) you can actually slip into the smallest of pockets and use to actually make and receive phone calls! Really. And oh-by-the-way, it still has most of the same features found on the big and heavy Apples and Droids. The only thing I miss is a call forwarding feature, which may be there but I haven't found it. only 1 CON: opening the case. I had to use a butter knife -and- the plastic tool Jelly provides. As for its size: its small screen works just fine. You can always adjust its text size. Although, the tiny qwerty keyboard is challenging but manageable for my sausage fingers. A small phone necessitates a small battery. Common sense settings and usage manage that. I put my iPhone 7 in a drawer and haven't missed it. I love this phone!

I got this phone for my tween-aged daughter, and then thought it was so cool I wanted one for myself--although I have resisted buying another one so far. I got it for her hoping she would be able to learn to use an android phone without getting addicted to the device. The size is sort of a built in limitation, so she can only take so much of watching videos on a small screen, etc. But the size is also a huge advantage in my opinion: less glass to break; smaller surface area means the walls and screen will be stronger; easier to put in a pocket; not so heavy; on and on. BUT, the other limitations previously mentioned are there: battery life is not as good as a full sized phone, and some things are just harder to do on such a small screen. But it's surprising how much this phone can do in spite of its size. I fully recommend it for a young person as a starter phone, or for anyone who wants a small phone, recognizing it has a few limitations.

While the Unihertz Jelly Pro is a pleasure to lug around due to its tiny size, I feel the compromises are simply too great for this phone to ever realistically serve as a full-timer. I had several notable problems which I will outline here. One of the primary problem is that this small phone is simply too small. The screen can render images admirably, but typing and texting is a slow, error-prone grind. I don’t have really big hands, but I still was constantly running into problems hitting the wrong buttons and making incorrect selections. It makes texting a very slow and painful chore. An even bigger problem is the phone’s tiny battery. You’re lucky if you can make it through the day without recharging, and I’ve had problems with it at critical moments, e.g., using Uber for a ride. One time, I used Uber to call a ride from the airport, with the charge at roughly 43%. With a normal phone, this would be more than enough charge to handle unexpected delays or problems, but with the Jelly Pro, I could see the battery percentage dropping very fast the entire time. As my driver was stuck in traffic, I ended up in a situation where the battery showed 14% and the driver was roughly 10 minutes out. As luck would have it, the battery died just as my driver arrived. With a hairy situation like that, I would not recommend the Jelly be relied upon for critical phone tasks. Another big problem was Unihertz’s own customer service. I received a faulty Jelly Pro which, once booted, would not respond to screen touches. I emailed their customer service, and as they addressed the problem over the course of several days, they had me shoot two separate videos for them to help them ascertain the problem. They couldn’t figure out the problem, and I had to return the phone to Amazon. Fortunately, my replacement phone did not have the problem. However, I did mess up the installation of the screen protector that came with it, and I asked customer service if they would send me a couple of replacement protectors. Surprisingly, rather than happily help a troubled customer, they directed me to the accessories section on their website to purchase a screen protector for $5! Incredulous after having been put to so much trouble to unsuccessfully fix their lemon product, I promised them an Amazon review which would grade them accordingly.

This may be a little small for use as a daily phone, UNLESS you have it setup for bluetooth into a car or headset or something, or you just don't use a phone much. Here are some uses for this: You're going somewhere and need a phone, but really don't want to carry one. This lets you stay in touch for important calls or texts, with very little size and weight. You need a backup phone for some reason. Maybe somebody else has a phone in the group, so you just want to take one so that there's a spare phone. Or you have to carry a work phone, but want a personal phone too. Backup navigation system for a pilot or outdoorsman/hunter. This is probably the smallest self contained gps/android there is. It's a little weird, but it runs Avare just fine.
