  • [EDIT] This desk caused a lot of grief, but it's cool when it works.
Color: Black Frame/Rustic Brown Top
[EDIT: ADDITION] I've had this desk functional and working for a few days now, the seller was very good at helping me fix the manufacturing issue and quickly sent me a replacement part for what was causing problems. I still had a professional come and reassemble the desk but now that it works I'm very very happy. Upped from 2 to 4 stars because it finally works, but still wasn't a great experience. Not including the actual cost of the desk, I've invested probably another $350+ into this thing between needing to pick it up and have it professionally assembled, disassembled, then reassembled. I haven't removed anything from this review, the original posting is below. [EDIT: ORIGINAL POST FOLLOWS] There is so much to say about this pos. I guess I'll just go in the order of events. First, my delivery came in two parts. The tabletop (just the wood pieces) and the legs, with all the screws and gears and mechanical parts. The wood pieces came on the day they were supposed to, but Amazon tracked the delivery as "delivery attempted" and I didn't get the legs. This went on for the 4 days following. The legs were never delivered to my house. After contacting Amazon, FedEx, and the seller, I finally determined I would have to pay $50 in Uber fees to pick this up from FedEx and lug the legs back to my house in the back of an Uber. So that was problem #1. Next up, I finally started to put this thing together. I've put together a number of electric raising desks, but none that were L-shaped. I figured this would be easier since there were no heavy electric parts or wiring, but boy was I wrong. The directions I got were for the electric version of this desk. So I was able to follow them for most of the construction, but when I got around to the last 2 steps, the directions gave me absolutely no idea on how to extend the legs to fit the tabletop and align the screws, while allotting room for the crank. I ended up having to hire a professional "furniture assembler" from Task Rabbit, and he still couldn't match the screws with the pre-drilled holes, or make the gear attachments any more stable than I could. This desk is either cheaply constructed with no quality checks before shipping, or we're both total idiots. I know which one I'm assuming. That was another $100 wasted on this thing. Finally, we manage to get the desk put together in a way that it would function until I had time to reach out to the seller. I was planning to do so today, but I wanted to give the warning first. As I sat down to write up this exact message, I tried to lower my desk height. It was working fine yesterday, to my surprise. But now today, even after I checked that all the gears and cranks were perfectly attached, the crank is getting caught on something, or the gear is stripped. Something. I have no idea. But I can no longer change the height of my desk. For over $600 after paying to pick this up and have it assembled, you'd think it would last for more than a literal day. I would return it if I didn't assume it would cost me even more time and money than it already has. Stay far, far away from this thing. I am open to being contacted by the seller if there is ANYTHING they can do to make this right, in which case this review may change. ... show more

  • Top Notch Manufacturing
Color: Black Frame/Rustic Brown Top
I am a manufacturing engineer and have been for 15 years. This came and as it went together, i was suprised each time everything just fit up perfectly. The welds all looked good, holes aligned. Just top notch quality control. I can see how people feel the directions are lacking, but if you concentrate on the images it really is quite simple. It took around 1.5 hrs for me to put together. The rustic color is a little darker than the images show, and the crank handle/assembly appears to be fairly light duty in my opinion. Hopefully that holds up, if not it seems fairly simple to replace. 30 seconds roughly from lowest setting to highest at a lesiurely pace. Since i know people will ask this. ... show more

  • tricky to assemble
Color: Black Frame/Rustic Brown Top
Getting the crank mechanism lined up properly took some work, but great product.

  • Not worth the hassle **UPDATED**
Color: Black Frame/Rustic Brown Top
**UPDATED** EDIT: Was able to reach out to manufacturers and received a replacement leg to fix the issue. Took a bit to get everything assembled but works great now. The top itself looks and feels great, but was a monster to actually assemble. The rods underneath to attach to the crank mechanism kept falling out and were not easy to adjust at all. Often you would get one end seated in the whole, and the other end one not go in because it was not aligned correctly and unable to twist. Both outer legs arrive bent as shown in the photo and the desk is not level at all. Would not recommend because it’s not worth the frustration and stress to put together. ... show more

  • Nice desk. Prefer hand crank over electronic
Color: Black Frame/Rustic Brown Top
Serves its purpose in my small work area. Only downfall is rough top rather than smooth. But looks amazing!

  • Valuable customer service
Color: White Frame/Light Oak Top
Edit: price has increased since purchase. I paid $300. Really a great addition to my home office and a good value for money. Sturdy piece that will last for years. Lots of space to work, sitting or standing. I like to use lots of different computer monitors to remain paperless, so the amount of working space is ideal for me. The picture instructions were decent, and desk was relatively easy to assemble but I got a little turned around and was trying to insert the crank handle rod into the wrong side bracket. Couldn’t figure it out on my own and was a little maddening. Learned I only needed to switch my side brackets and then all was well. Did a quick FaceTime with the company contact in the manual and got the answer almost instantly. Once I got the desk positioned where I’ll use it, and tightened all screws, any other loose parts also easily snapped into place and it’s been smooth sailing ever since. The L shape being three pieces instead of one actually made moving it around a corner and positioning it that much easier. Just must remember to keep screws loose until the very very end. Do not expect all screws to install perfectly straight; it’s still going to work out in the end and become a very sturdy desk for you. I think if the L-Shape had been all one piece instead of three I wouldn’t have been able to get it around the tight corner I did. And I did all of this entirely myself! Assembled it in the livingroom on an area rug because I had to turn it upside down, right side up a couple of times (and it’s heavy). Then slid the desk across the floor down a step and around a tight corner using towels and an area rug because I like to use this in my smallish sunroom. The natural light and garden view makes the substantial working time a lot more pleasant. Very happy with this purchase and glad I got a crank handle instead of an electronic mechanical version. This way I free up one more outlet for my actual electronics, and don’t risk the desk getting stuck at a particular height if/when something electronic eventually stops working. My area has power outages and lots of thunder storms so I keep that kind of thing in mind when making purchases. Crank handle works very well, and really like that it folds in so I’m not bruising my leg, etc. Nice desk! ... show more
