It's so nice to write a review about a great product. I have a 1982 Vanagon, the headlights have always been awful. The stock lights were terrible, so a few years ago I bought an "upgrade kit" from a well known supplier of VW bus parts. They were German H4 bulbs, but in the end they were no brighter than the stock lights as they drew so much current they never got as bright as they should. Even after I ran a separate power line for them from the battery they were still too dim for safe driving. I'd been thinking about switching to LED headlights, as I figured the lower power draw would have to help, but trying to find compatible LED lights for a 42 year old car can be a bit intimidating. I have to give GoWesty major credit, on their site they sell a very expensive set of LED lights, but they say that if you don't want to spend $400 on headlights that you should check out these lights, and I did. These lights took perhaps 5 minutes to install, just remove the grill, remove the 3 screws holding on the band that retains the lights, pull out the old bulbs, pop in the new bulbs and replace everything. Could not have been easier. When I hit the headlight switch I was amazed at the massive glow of light, I'd never seen anything like it from my van. I'll make sure the alignment is good, but these are so much brighter than any other light I've had in there it's astounding. I have a volt meter that measures the system voltage in the dash circuits. With my old lights the voltage would sag from 13.1 volts to 11.8 volts when the lights went on. With these the voltage drops from 13.1 volts to 13 volts, quite the difference, obviously they're consuming a lot less power while putting out many times the amount of light. Just a final note, I was shocked when I opened the box and picked up one of the bulbs, they're HEAVY, much heavier than the stock bulbs, which I have to imagine indicates they're pretty substantially made. I am very impressed with these so far. Other drivers, not so much. They are correctly adjusted and placed, but they throw so much light out that I can actually see way off to my left and right, the sides of the road, easily. They have helped me avoid many deer who see the lights and freeze, off the side of the road. Other animals, in the road, can see them and their glowing eyes let me see them. I have not used high beam yet. There is no need. I do have fog/driving lamps to cover the space below my headlamp cut off, which helps. Going up a hill, however, there is a point, at the crest, where you have no light on the road at all. A small problem but not too bad. Installation was fairly easy, but it took some wiggling around to get them to seat perfectly. Once they did, they were great. There was no need to even adjust them since they fit right in place of the old ones. I did check aim though to be safe. About a dozen drivers have flashed me, usually up close, in oncoming traffic. I understand this, as they are very bright. Most don't seem to be bothered by them, though. I am very impressed and pleased with these. The price was great too. If higher priced ones are better, in brightness, they are probably illegal. These are getting top marks from me. ... show more

There is a lot of good here for the price: 1) Someone mentioned they don’t light the lower area right in front of the bumper . This is true. It’s like a rectangle slit of light. And it’s a little bit dark the first 20 feet low in front at the bumper on a Jeep (not lifted) 2) The lenses are plastic. These were packed very well, but mine had horizontal scratches on them out of the box.. One was pretty bad, but I didn’t notice it until I installed them. Just about all it polished off with plastic refinisher. Debated about returning them. 3) I like that they’re bright,..but they’re not super bright obnoxious to others. The light carries far down the road. And the cut off is good. 4) They look normal more traditional and not weird. 5) They fit perfectly in a Jeep TJ So far so good. Would probably buy again ... show more

Fits good, a very tight fit in the bucket and sticks out slighty more then my previous glass headlights with HID setup. Overall the lighting is improved over the HID I had, light patter is better, and IMO keeps the classic look of the car. One negative is it does not throw the light far, I would adjust the headlights higher then normal due to less light intensity at the cutoff line. I would recommend this over HID. ... show more

After returning another pair of LEDs that were a different brand, I decided to try these in my HMMWV. The first pair I bought were total junk right out of the box, so I was skeptical and almost went back to OEM bulbs. After reading the reviews, these seemed like a good gamble, and so far I am more than pleased. I read a couple of reviews that said they weren’t that bright, but most claimed they were very bright, and I have to agree that they are more than very bright. They are super bright and light up the road very, very well. If they last more than a couple of years, they are well worth the price. If I have any issues with them, I will come back and update this review. Right now, I give them 5 stars. Much heavier and heftier than most lights and I really like the clean look of them. Not as busy as most other LEDs. They look good on a my M1097 HMMWV, and they fit perfectly. And I emphasize, they are very bright! ... show more
