What attracted me to this phone: - Android 14 installed (my current phone runs Android 12 and has not been updated for almost 2 years) - It is a lightweight phone at around 200 grams, compared to my current phone which is about 50% heavier. - Good cell radio coverage. This feature makes this phone great for travelling. - Attractive appearance. The phone comes with a 20W USB-C charger, a cable, a manual, a SIM holder removal tool, and a protective case. I like the phone appearance. For instance, the rear light and camera cluster is reminiscent of other, more expensive phones. At 7.9mm, I find the device quite slender, and at 190g, the phone is very light. The 6.75" IPS LCD display runs at 90 Hz and provides about an 85% screen-to-body ratio. The camera is good. I was able to take good to very good quality pictures with the 50MP, f/1.8 main camera (see the dog picture). I like the inclusion of a macro camera, even though its short focal range makes it quite tricky to use. This phone has an FM radio with a built-in antenna, so you don't need to plug in earbuds to use the radio. The main speaker for the phone is located at the bottom right side of the phone. Sound production is loud enough (it seems louder than my current phone) and clear. I like the dual nano-SIM (or 1 nano-SIM and 1 microSD card). The multiple 2G,3G, 4G and 5G bands means that this phone works with the different carriers in Canada, and most carriers elsewhere in the world. I have used my phone (which has similar bands) in Norway, and other parts of Europe, the Caribbean, and the USA and had no problems getting cell data coverage (3G, 4G, and 5G). Another thing I like about this phone is that it comes with Android 14 installed. A key feature of Android 14 is better battery life. I found that the G9 5G provides excellent battery life. From 100% charge, after 3 days of medium to heavy use, the battery level was down to 40%. The provided 20W charger and cable delivered 16W of power to the phone. The 6gb (expandable to 12gb using RAM emulation in ROM) allowed me to use the phone with a few apps open at a time with ease. The Unisoc T765 has adequate performance, but it is not a power house. One thing to note is that Umidigi phones, like many other budget Chinese phones, typically have limited software updates, with most occurring in the first year of ownership. Having owned the phone for a week, I did not receive any software updates. I did check every day for updates because of a few software bugs I found with the phone. One bug was with the camera app. The app shows three selectable zoom buttons (1x, 2x, 3x). The 3x zoom when selected reverts to a 1x zoom. I also found the number of picture size selections quite limited (4:3, Full screen, and 1:1(?)). Fortunately, I was able to install other camera apps from Google Play Store which provided a higher level of functionality using this phone's cameras. Another bug has to do with sound output when there is a Bluetooth connection. I found that the FM radio would only play through the phone speaker or earbuds, even though I had my Bluetooth headphone connected! This happened, even though other apps: YouTube, Internet radio, and podcast apps, properly sent the audio output to the Bluetooth output device when connected. While I found these software bugs annoying, I still think this phone provides a lot of bang for the buck, in a very attractive package. It is well-suited for those who like having worldwide bands available on their phones (i.e. those who travel internationally for business or pleasure), and who might want to use an international SIM in the extra SIM slot. I think this phone offers good value.

Phone looks great. Has great specs for the price; however, no carriers in my area provide service. Not even 4G LTE much less 5G. Heck, even Mint mobile and Boost do not recognize its IMEI to check for compatibility on their sites. I have just waisted an entire afternoon finding out that the phone is blacklisted. A consumer should not have to do all of this research just to get a phone.

For the price this is a great phone, I had it now for 7 months and it still works perfectly, I took it with me in a recent trip to Europe I used it it a US and an Italian SIM card (at the same time) and it always keeps the connection, it works fast enough. Several accessories are included in the box, I only had to buy a screen protector. The only improvement that I would like is an electroning immage stabilizer, the camera is really great with a fantastic resolution but you need to stay absolutely still to avoid blurry fotos. If you are on a bugget and you don't mind about the camera not having the electroning immage stabilizer this is the phone for you

I just love UMIDIGI cell phones. They are very reasonably priced and have lots of power and storage, so they are often a better value than some of the more expensive cell phone brands. One of the issues with the value phones is that they are later introducing some of the features and operating systems that the other brands provide. So, when I saw this 5G, Android 14 UMIDIGI G9 5G Cell Phone on Amazon.com, I snapped it up and had it delivered to Canada. Even with the cost of duty, the price was still very reasonable. I understand it is being released soon on Amazon.ca, but I just couldn't take the chance. This is the very first time, I’m aware of, that UMIDIGI released a 5G phone in North America, which is why I was so eager to pick one up. Although the 5G platform is not widely available in my area, the great part about this phone is that when it does not find a 5G network, it automatically switches to 4G LTE and seamlessly continues to provide you with the best connection available. If you live in a large city, you’ll likely spend most of your day connected 5G and it is lightning fast comparatively. I really love the 6.75-inch, 90 MHz Eye-care Display. It’s very comfortable to look at everyday and it’s even enjoyable to watch a YouTube video or a Netflix movie on it. I think it’s the perfect size as anything bigger would probably start to feel like you’re carrying a small tablet in your pocket. Despite its large screen, this is amazingly comfortable to carry in your front or back pocket, and you hardly know it’s there. I’ve been using this UMIDIGI G9 5G Cell Phone for about a month now and it is the perfect daily driver. The processor is a solid Unisoc T765 Octa (eight) Core Processor that has 2 large 2.3 GHz Cortex-A73 cores and 6 smaller 2.1 GHz A55 cores on-board. It's a mid-level processor which provides very smooth computing whether your playing, communicating, creating or multitasking, and provides all the power the average user needs. The UMIDIGI G9 has 6GB of installed RAM. This is sufficient for most average users, in fact it's probably lots. If you noticed it comes with 12GB in the description, this is because Android 14 has a Memory Expansion option. It uses an equal amount of your storage space (ROM) as RAM. Now if you know don't know anything about RAM vs ROM (storage) speeds, RAM is almost instantaneous where storage is slower in comparison. However, if a memory-intensive app pushes your 6GB of ram, the expanded ram will jump in and allow your app to continue. I have not yet had a ram issue or a frozen app, whether using the unexpanded 6GB or the expanded 12GB. The G9 comes with 128 GB ROM storage. I consider myself to be an average to intermediate user and I'm currently using about 45 GB or about 1/3 of my storage. This includes 15GB in apps, 8GB of video and audio, 2GB of pictures, and don't forget, the first 13GB is required for your Android 14 operating system. The UMIDIGI G9 comes with dual sim card slots. One slot is a dedicated sim card slot and the other will accept either a second sim or a micro-SD card (up to 1TB). If you don't need more storage, the second sim slot can allow you to carry two phone numbers, like a work number and a personal number, on the same device. This is much better than having to carry two devices. The 5000mAh battery is lasting me about two days on a charge at a low, but comfortable, brightness level. However, I usually charge my phone every night, so I evaluated it during an 18-hour period. On FULL brightness, the G9 had 29% battery; at half, the device had 38% left; and at minimum brightness, the phone held 50% battery life after the full day. The only issue I have with this phone is that it does not come with NFC. This is the feature that allows you to tap your phone to pay with your Debit or Credit card. This is not something I use, but I know many users do. I think in these technological times, TAP should always be standard. If you want a worry-free, large-screen, smooth and reliable cell phone that won't let you down or break the bank, consider the UMIDIGI G9 5G. I chose the GREEN and I really LOVE the colour. It even comes with an installed screen protector and a FREE basic case.
