I didn’t even know there was such a thing as “convex blade” scissors, but these are, and the difference is clear from the first open/close. The inside surface of the blades are curved and fully milled and polished. What it means is there’s virtually no friction when opening and closing the blades, which provides maximum control while doing quick and fine shaping and layering of hair. There’s none of that rough-milled look, feel – and sound - of cheap scissors made from either aluminum or steel. Not only are cuts easy but you’ll never feel like you have to push the blades open with your thumb. Speaking of push and feel the instruction booklet is clear, illustrated and – dare I say it – downright interesting to read. Not only does it describe the four common types of hair-cutting scissors, there’s a discussion of the proper way to hold them and common mistakes people make. My wife cuts my hair (I don’t have enough left to justify paying barber prices) and she found these scissors to be effortless to use, if a bit heavier than her regular pair. The scissors are extremely sharp out of the box and come with a thicker and more abrasive microfiber cloth than you typically see for glass products. Although the steel appears to be stainless, light oil is recommeneded to avoid rust. There’s a small round metal tool that I’m guessing is the equivalent of a sharpening rod for knives. Unfortunately, it’s not mentioned in the instructions and I wouldn’t risk misshaping the edge without knowing what I’m doing. I sharpen tools for woodworking and can tell you scissors are tricky to sharpen and easy to destroy. I don’t know if the knurling on the holding end is meant to be functional or just cosmetic, but it’s very attractive and makes holding the scissors more secure. As a final point, these are strictly for cutting hair, don’t use them to open envelopes and (gasp) packages otherwise they’ll quickly dull.

These scissors are as stunning to look at as they are functional to use. They are CRAZY sharp and can cut a single hair with precision. I've honestly never used scissors this nice before. I would expect them to be twice their cost. I have very long hands and these are very comfortable to hold. My normal height girlfriend with normal sized hands also tried them out and agreed on how comfortable they are. There are some really nice visual touches on these too. I didn't notice in the original pictures, but the the metal around the holes for your finger is textured. It doesn't affect your grip, but it is a beautiful added touch that really sets these apart. I would highly recommend these to anyone who cuts hair.
