I am a fine art student with a concentration in ceramics, sculpture, and 3D work. I bought this set for my classes so I could work in my home studio as well without having to use classroom tools or borrow them. I've used this set nearly every day for the past month before reviewing it. I'm glad I purchased this. This set is awesome. They're very sturdy and durable! They've worked well with terracotta, air dry clay, plaster, and sculpting/smoothing spackle. The ribs work very well. I was able to use the loop tools on soft leather and leather clay without putting any tension or stress on the tools. This set is great for beginners and seasoned artists. I think it contains more than a beginner needs but has everything for a growing artist who will eventually use more tools as they expand their work and needs. I wish a shaver was included. The only downside is the clear plastic case because it's too small to carry the whole kit in a realistic setting. Sure, it all fits from the manufacturer, but once it gets unpacked and used, it becomes an impossible game of Tetris that is unrealistic. It arrived cracked but as a student in a messy studio, it wasn't an issue to me or worth contacting for support since I know it would have cracked in my backpack sooner or later. The case still functions, I just use a rubber band to keep it closed. I wish it came with a shaver to have a complete set but not a problem either way. You still get your money's worth for sure!

Great for beginners that are getting to know their tools, and great for pros that know what they need. This set includes so many tools. There are copies of multiple ones, but there is also different sizes for each. As a ceramic student myself, I find these tools to be absolutely amazing.

Throw away the metal rib. It will slice your fingers wide open. Other than that the kit is perfect.

Like: Plastic Carrying Case holds 53 wooden and metal tools needed for my Beginners Ceramics Building College Lab Class. Could not find locally, everything jn one set. The price was better than purchasing pieces individually, or small sets with some required pieces. BEST BUY. Dislike: I didn't see it sooner!

I have been working with ceramics for about 3 years now but it's all been in high school where I've always been provided with the materials I've needed, ever since I graduated I knew I needed to buy a new set of tools to deal with all this clay I had waiting for me, and I'm really glad I chose this! The cases that come with this set of a bunch of tools (that are also fantastic and finely crafted) are awesome because you don't need to carry around the tools in some unprofessional manner like a flimsy bag that will easily be ruined since these tools are pretty sharp (couple of ones I borrowed from school stabbed my backpack). Although unrelated-- I bought this150 set of colored prismacolor pencils and it was really frustrating because it didn't come with a portable carrying case-- glad I don't need to deal with that same problem with this! Beginner or not, this is a wonderful set if recommend anyone to have. The cases also have plenty of space to add more tools (I managed to place 12 more comfortably in one of the two cases! You could fit more if you wanted... A good 5 more could probably fit) . Make sure that you keep your tools clean and dry before zipping up the tools since the case will probably grow moldy! Happy sculpting/crafting/ throwing/molding/ etc.! :) (not sure what word to use...)
