Works quite well once you learn how to get it connected and reconnected. Removed one star because it will develop a constant static noise when in use for long periods. It’s quickly resolved by turning the Airfly off for a second or two and then back on. We have three Airflys and all three exhibit this behavior.

I've been eyeing this thing for years now but never felt pushed to commit. However, ahead of a 12 hour flight to Italy, I pulled the trigger and I wish I had done so earlier. Before hand, I'd pack my big old Beats over the ear headphones for the flight since they have the headphone jack, but they'd always give me a headache wearing them for so long, they took up so much space in my backpack and then they'd never get used again until we flew home because my phone doesn't have the headphone jack. It was just way more convenient and comfortable for me to use my beats pros wireless headphones, plus my boyfriend has airpods so I wanted him to be able to connect to this as well. Got it paired before the flight and it was as simple as plugging it in and turning it on. Love that I can charge it while I'm using it as well. Plugged the USB charger into the outlet on the seatback and connected the Airfly to it so I could use it and charge at the same time. But the thing that REALLY pushed me to purchase this was the fact we had a few audio tours set up in Rome and I wanted to be able to plug this into the device and both me and boyfriend be able to listen along without us each having to rent an audio device. This worked perfectly for that and you save some money only buying one audio guide device. We could even be a good distance apart from one another and didn't disconnect from the audio guide. This is such a great little travel companion for more than just seatback entertainment on a flight. If your laptop or ipad has a headphone jack, you can both watch and listen together as well.

As my headline states, the AirFly Duo, in my experience, is worthless and frustrating for two devices connected at one time as it continually and consistently pops, crackles, and loses connection. For one device at at time, it works fine, but I bought it so my wife and could both listen to the same thing at the same time with our respective earbuds, and it is useless for that purpose. 1) connected my perfectly good (always works) earbuds and everything sounded fine. 2) connected my wife's brand new earbuds and we both immediately started hearing pops and crackles and dropping audio 3) tried multiple different audio sources, i.e. Pandora on my phone, Pandora on my laptop, YouTube on both devices, etc., then same using my wife's phone and tablet. 4) factory reset of the AirFly and both sets of earbuds, then repeated step 3 with the same results 5) Ordered a new set of earbuds for me because I wanted a travel pair and a home pair. Repeated steps 3 and 4 with every combination of earbuds and devices (you can imagine how long I have spent on it at this point) 6) Sent the new set of earbuds back cause I didn't like them and got another new travel pair for me, then repeated steps 3 and 4 again with the same results. At this point I have tried 4 different sets of earbuds, in every combination of connections, with factory resets of all devices between each test, and confirming earbuds were not trying to connect to anything else (turned off everything else bluetooth in the house) 7) Went on a plane trip and got the same results using the audio-out for the tv monitor on the seat-back. I even did another factory reset of the device and our earbuds on the plane 8) Contacted TwelveSouth support with basically the same info I have written above, hoping they would give me a trick I wasn't aware of, but after about a week of waiting I got an email back saying "We recommend exchanging the AirFly Duo with Amazon." 9) Returned the original and ordered a 2nd identical AirFly Duo 10) Performed every step mentioned above with the new device, and got the same results. 11) Returning the 2nd one and writing an accurate review of the product, from my experience, because I have wasted enough time on this.

This little device is essential for my frequent air travel. With it, I can easily connect my wireless headphones to the plane's entertainment system without a pesky wire. It works great and I don't leave home without it. Sound quality that comes through is excellent... as good as through a cord.
